Back in 2023, I had the profound experience of witnessing Doris Bush Nungarrayi’s Sulman Prize–winning artwork, ‘Mamunya ngalyananyi (Monster coming)’ in all its energetic glory at the @artgalleryofnsw . Ever since, I have not been able to get Doris’s cheeky mamus out of my head!!!

When @artgallerynswshop asked if WAH-WAH would be interested in creating a jumper design with them, I knew exactly which artist I wanted to suggest. It has been such an honour to take Doris’s mamus from the canvas to knitwear.

For this design, I incorporated two different space-dyed yarns to introduce as much colour to the jumpers as possible, and to create a painterly and textured feel. Much like Doris’s ‘cheeky ones’, no two jumpers will ever be identical due to the unpredictability of the vibrant changing yarn.

Huge thanks to the Art Gallery of NSW, their First Nations curatorial and Retail teams, @tjupiarts , and Doris Bush Nungarrayi and her family, for helping to bring this beautiful piece of wearable art into the world.

Available now exclusively via WAH-WAH and @artgallerynswshop

Dream Factory update… Three weeks in and we have just levelled up the bedroom with the softest of pink curtains… found on marketplace for a deal… But held in place by way of a drill-free Rentovators hack (remember those guys?). This curtain rod is suspended by four heavy-duty temporary clamps that usually keep a mop held against the wall - but turned horizontally. The window to our bedroom is giving “Amsterdam red light district” so we needed to add frosting to the windows - but this was a simple temporary ‘in-a-can’ version applied by home Reno honey @jason_de_cox.
