🤔What is Ukraine’s biggest achievement in 35 years of independence?

For some, it is more than 12 years of resistance against Russian aggression, while for others it is the determination to create and preserve Ukrainian culture despite everything. Rubryka asked foreigners who actively support Ukraine what they consider the country’s greatest achievement.

What would you add? Share your thoughts in the comments💙💛

Get to know Jason Wojnar, the next contributor to the By Choice Collective.

Jason’s story is a reminder that solidarity can take many forms. What began as an interest in Ukrainian culture gradually grew into a deep connection with the country, its people, and its creative communities.

Through music, language, and everyday life, Jason chose to build meaningful ties with Ukraine and continues to contribute to its cultural landscape in his own unique way.

🎙️ Vertical Voices – Evan Camacho (Part 2)

Since we ran out of time in Part 1, Evan Camacho joined me once again for another great conversation about verticals, acting, and opportunities within the industry.

🔹 Evan hadn’t paid much attention to Ukrainian verticals before, but recent sneak peeks caught his eye.

🔹 As a fan of period pieces, he was especially impressed by the Ukrainian vertical Sultan’s Heart.

🔹 He has heard from fellow actors who worked in Ukraine and Turkey that filming there was an incredible experience.

🔹 We talked about how international actors don’t need to speak Ukrainian, as English is commonly used on set.

🔹 Native-speaking tutors, such as Jason Wojnar, help bridge any language gaps.

🔹 International actors are also supported by personal assistants, like Polina Bobrovska, throughout their stay and production.

🔹 We discussed how AMO Pictures is now producing projects outside of Ukraine, and that Evan has already auditioned for TeraVision.

🔹 The fast-paced nature of vertical productions, memorizing large amounts of dialogue, and the challenges actors face were also part of our conversation.

🔹 We touched on pay disparities in the industry, quality issues in post-production, the need for more sequels, and why acting experience matters more than influencer status.

🔹 Most importantly, Evan expressed how grateful he is for the support of the worldwide vertical community.

🔥 And he has a message for AMO Pictures:

HE IS READY!!

You all know: not all Ukrainian actors speak English fluently — and that’s exactly why there’s a very special role on set at AMO Pictures 🎬

My guest today on The Magic Behind Ukrainian Actors is someone without whom many things simply wouldn’t run as smoothly:

Jason Wojnar — an American who has been living in Kyiv for a while and works as a native English Tutor, helping actors deliver their lines perfectly.

Here’s a glimpse of what we talked about:
• How did he end up moving to Kyiv — and why there?
• How did he get into the film industry and become an English language Tutor?
• How did he learn Ukrainian himself?
• What does his job actually look like? (Spoiler: not just on set — he also proofreads scripts after translation)
• How the intensity of his work depends on the shooting schedule
• How much Ukrainian actors have improved their English skills over the past year
• That there are multiple tutors — and that people like Hugh Henley, Istan Rozumny, and Robert Holmes can also step in
• Why the Ukrainian accent doesn’t need to be “fixed” — and is often actually a strength
• That accents can become a signature for actors
• His work so far — mainly in vertical projects
• Whether he ever wanted to be in front of the camera himself
• Why Ukrainian actors are incredibly hardworking
• Where you can hear his voice (Desired By Two: The Vampire and the Hunter)
• His collaborations with Yeva Strelnikova
• Why Ukraine has so many talented directors
• The long and impressive — yet often underestimated — history of the Ukrainian film industry
• A major issue: missing credits in verticals and lack of visibility for cast & crew
• That he didn’t even know what verticals were at the beginning of his career
• Why Ukraine is a true hidden gem — culturally, artistically, and in terms of its people
