If you know me, uncovering the hidden world of 500,000+ honey bees might be the furthest thing from ideal. And yet, a few years ago, I chose to do it anyway. I’m excited for the world to enter the hive in #SecretsOfTheBees, premiering March 31st on National Geographic. Stream on @disneyplus and @hulu

Here are a few behind the scenes looks with some legendary folks!

Encountering a family pod of orcas off the coast of the Channel Islands

This was nothing short of surreal!

Alongside @adamernsterwildlife and @jasonopenocean, I had the privilege of witnessing moments of tenderness and playful connection between these incredible apex predators.

This group is known as the CA51A pod

a well-known family unit frequently seen along California’s coast, particularly around Monterey Bay and the Channel Islands.

I’ll be sharing more about this pod and our unforgettable adventure in the coming weeks 🩵

Witnessing a pair of bobcats patrolling their territory is an awe-inspiring sight. Even when it’s their own sibling, these fierce felines display unwavering loyalty and will defend their turf with resolute determination. Check out this captivating video capturing the territorial instincts of these majestic creatures.

Killer whale diets vary vastly across their range. Different ecotypes partake in just about everything you can imagine from the fish eating residents, to the “all you can eat,” ETP’s. A recent encounter on the outskirts of Monterey Bay while out with @discoverywhalewatch shed light on the diet of Bigg’s killer whales, the most frequently encountered killer whale in California waters. A first for me, this group consisting of 2 different pods consumed a large elephant seal. While always sad to see the life of an animal vanish so quickly, its body gave energy to a countless amount of sea life. 8 killer whales, black footed and Laysan Albatross, sooty shear waters, western gulls, and an array of benthic organisms feasted on the remains of this seal. In an incredible display of harmony, not a single strand of energy will be wasted. It was a raw and real scene, but one that will be forever ingrained into my memory.

Enjoy my entire recollection of this day on my YouTube channel now, using the link in my bio! 🔗 🖤

It was a stunning day off the California coast with the folks of the @californiakillerwhaleproject . We were lucky enough to spend the day with several giants as they porpoised for miles to a destination we never figured out.

This killer whale is a BEAST! 💀

I’ve been fortunate to spend some quality time with this HUGE bull killer whale over the years. Patrolling coastal California, these whales cover vast distances in search of food. While it’s always amazing to see these great ocean predators, witnessing a towering dorsal fin slowly creep up from the cool ocean depths will always be one of my favorite sights.
