🩵✈️ My dad was a pilot. He also passed away before he ever got to see me in a musical. He never got to see me perform in the medium that would ultimately become my entire life and career. There is something incredibly special about getting to tell a story that feels so close to my own, about getting to stand onstage and honor a part of my dad’s life, wearing his wings, while sharing a part of mine that he never got to see. This summer I sat in my car everyday after work and tried to sing Me and the Sky and I couldn’t get through it. I could not get past the first phrase without starting to cry. I knew I had to sing it over and over and over again so that I wouldn’t cry during the audition, and eventually I could. Not because the song meant any less to me, but because I had finally let myself sit with everything it brought up. This show has helped heal a part of me that I don’t think I even realized was still hurting. Having the honor to learn from, not only, an incredible creative team but a truly remarkable cast of actors has been the highlight of my four years here. I am endlessly grateful for this show, for the people who have made it what it is, and for the reminder that even in the things we lose, there is still so much love to be found. <3 COME FROM AWAY DIRECTOR - Vincent J. I am here!!!!! How highly favored am I to have told this special story with the most special humans I know ?!!!! Nothing but gratitude for @umichmusicaltheatre, the CFA team/cast/crew, and the creators of this beautiful show @sankoffandhein . I have infinite admiration for Beulah Cooper and Diane Davis. I would wear pocketed pants forever if it meant being in this room forever, but it’s over... I am really lucky I happened to be where the river met the sea this time.
