Dear running,

The goodbye I never wanted to write. You slipped through my fingers before I even had a chance to realize what was happening. One minute I was working out with my teammates and the next I was handed a boot and told my NCAA running career was over.

I wish I could go back and freeze the moments I didn’t know were memories. The early morning workouts, the camps, the teammates who became family, and the coaches who grew me to be who I am now, and all the moments in between. I got to chase a dream I had as a middle schooler and live out something that I once could only imagine. I got to wear a division 1 uniform in the SoCon. And I got to experience so many moments that I will carry with me forever.

Thank you for all my coaches who have built me and have supported me at my highest, and my lowest. You all have taught me so many life lessons that I will carry on for the rest of my life. Thank you to all my former and current teammates who have shown nothing but love. I have learned to suffer in ways I couldn’t imagine. You all have made this sport so special. I hope you know how much I love each and every one of you.

We sometimes don’t get to choose the cards we are dealt, but we do get to choose what we do with them. As one chapter closes, another one opens. A new season of life starts. As bummed as I am for this, I am going to make the most of it.

This isn’t a goodbye to running, just competition in the NCAA. There are still miles to run and memories to make. Running will always be a part of me. I might not know what the next chapter holds, but I do know this decision is for my future self.

So dear running, thank you for letting me dream big. I’m not ready to say goodbye yet, so I won’t. In the meantime, time for my coaching and ultramarathon career. I hope I can inspire everyone to love you as much as I do. Go Mocs!

Being able to compete is a blessing and privilege we often look over, remember to be thankful for the opportunity. That being said thankful to be healthy and compete again! All the glory and honor goes to God!

I MADE IT🤍

Not only is today the day I finished chemo and what has been the most challenging season of my life but it’s also the day I asked Jesus to come into my heart 18 years ago……

And boy am I glad I did, it has been so evident that he has walked right beside me and my family through this diagnosis! I just thought March 23rd help a special place in my heart…… now all I have to say is

GOD IS GOOD. CHEMO SUCKS. I AM DONE! 🤍
