Beyond BLESSED. ❤️🙏🏼

This early on in my career I've been so fortunate with a coaching staff that's became family and student-athletes that put their blood, sweat, and tears into our program DAILY. This acknowledgment is a direct reflection of the amazing people that have propelled this program forward, and for that, I'm very thankful. 🤞🏼

Man what a year!!! It has been one week since we lost in the National Tournament. Anyone that has been following us this season knows that this season was the definition of a roller coaster ride.

We experienced the lows of finding out our school was closing, our players were being displaced, we were losing our gym, and we had no funds to finish the season. However, in the midst of all the chaos and uncertainty, we had an end to the season I will always remember. We found a way to raise the funds to finish the season, we carried on when no one thought it was possible, and we finished the regular season as Cal Pac regular season and tournament champions.

We still have to face the hard reality of our current situation which includes, finding new schools and programs for our players, finding a way to get our seniors graduated, finding housing for our guys, and finding new jobs for our coaching staff (if you hear of anything let me know lol), BUT…

the fact that we got to experience the generosity of people who cared about our team enough to fund us and let these guys finish the season the way they deserve, the fact that we were able overcome so much adversity and still perform and win our conference, and the fact that our players never gave up and have continued to put one foot in front of the other in the face of some tough circumstances, just shows how tough they are.

To say I am proud of this team is an understatement. I love these guys and I truly feel each of them will come out of this season stronger and better equipped to deal with the challenges life throws at you. To everyone that helped us and cared and cheered us on throughout the year, words cannot express my gratitude and how appreciative I am.

We may not be national champions but these guys and this team won in the game of life this year.

THANK YOU for all the memories UAV. I would not be the coach I am today without the players, coaches, administration, and challenges that I experienced while on the sidelines. I’m not sure where I will be next year but God willing, I will get another opportunity to coach and do what I love.

Having a group of individuals come together and work towards a common goal is hard. Sacrificing for the betterment of the team is hard. Practicing every day since September is hard.

But… it’s supposed to be hard.

YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE MOMENTS OF DOUBT.
YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE DAYS YOU DON’T WANT
TO DO IT. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO MAKE SACRIFICES.
YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF AND
PUSH YOUR LIMITS.

THAT’S THE PRICE THAT HAS TO BE PAID TO SEPARATE YOURSELF FROM THE PACK, STOP BEING AVERAGE AND TO DO ANYTHING WORTH DOING.
STOP TRYING TO AVOID IT.

LEARN TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CHALLENGE, THE SACRIFICES AND THE DISCOMFORT -AND USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.

That’s exactly what these young men have done and that is why they are the only ones that will get to say they are the 2023-2024 California Pacific Conference Regular Season Champions.

And we aren’t done yet…
