58. 🤍✨ And what a life it has been.

Last night, under the stars in Jersey City, surrounded by family, longtime friends, new friends, flowers, laughter, handwritten memories and that incredible skyline, I celebrated another trip around the sun.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, I found myself thinking about the road that brought me here.

I’ve learned that life rarely unfolds exactly the way we planned.

I’ve worked hard. I’ve taken risks. I’ve left what was comfortable to build something of my own. I’ve bought properties, renovated them, created businesses, hosted strangers who became part of my story, started new ventures, fought battles I never expected to fight, stood up for people and causes that mattered to me, and somehow kept finding the courage to say, “Okay… what’s next?”

There have been chapters that stretched me, humbled me and changed me.

But there has also been so much beauty.

My family. My children. My grandchildren. My friends. The people who have known me forever and the people who somehow walked into my life exactly when they were supposed to.

And last night I got to see so many of those worlds come together.

One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was my little birthday tree. Reading those handwritten notes—memories, jokes, encouragement and words of love—reminded me that sometimes we have no idea how much of an impact we have made on other people until they tell us.

At 58, I understand something I didn’t fully understand when I was younger:

A beautiful life isn’t a perfect life.
It’s a life you keep choosing to live fully.#blessed #family #grateful #jerseycity #lifeisworthliving

What a beautiful day exploring the Colombian naval ships and experiencing such a meaningful moment of fellowship, history, and culture.

A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Cartagena for the gracious invitation and warm welcome. It is always powerful to see how Rotary connects people across borders — different countries, different backgrounds, but the same shared values of service, friendship, community, and goodwill.

Grateful for the opportunity to meet new friends, strengthen international connections, and celebrate the spirit of Rotary around the world.

Last night I had the privilege of attending the Segunda Quimbamba Folkloric Center recital, and it was far more than a performance. It was a reminder. A lesson. A calling.

As I watched the dancers move across the stage, the drums echo through the theater, and generations of children, parents, grandparents, and community members celebrate together, I couldn’t help but think about our ancestors. Those who endured colonization, slavery, displacement, and attempts to erase their language, traditions, music, and identity.

Yet here we are.

Still dancing.
Still singing.
Still telling our stories.
Still resisting.

Every drumbeat carried the voices of those who came before us. Every colorful skirt, every song, every step of Bomba was a declaration that our culture survives because each generation chooses to preserve it.

As Puerto Ricans, as Boricuas, we have a responsibility to teach our children where they came from, what our people endured, and who they are. If we do not tell our stories, someone else will rewrite them. If we do not preserve our traditions, they can disappear.

Culture is not something we inherit automatically. It is something we actively protect.

Seeing so many young children on that stage gave me hope. They are learning more than dance. They are learning identity. They are learning pride. They are learning that they come from a resilient people whose history deserves to be remembered and celebrated.

To the elders who continue teaching, to the parents who bring their children, and to the young people carrying these traditions forward: thank you.

And a very special thank you to Kiki for the invitation. You were absolutely amazing. Thank you for allowing me to experience an evening filled with culture, history, enrichment, enlightenment, and tradition. It was a beautiful reminder of who we are and why preserving our heritage matters.

Que nunca permitamos que nuestra cultura sea borrada.

Que vivan nuestros ancestros.
Que viva la resistencia.
Que viva la Bomba.
Que viva nuestra cultura.

Y sobre todo…

Surrounded by women who don’t just talk about impact—they live it.
Women who lead with purpose, move with integrity, and show up with both strength and heart. The kind of women who build, uplift, and quietly change lives every single day.
In a world that needs more empathy, more action, and more truth… these women deliver all three.
This Women’s History Month, I’m celebrating not just what women have done—but who they continue to be.
Grateful to stand among such inspiring, passionate, and high-achieving women of service through Rotary. Proud to be part of this circle. Honored to call you friends.
Cheers to the women who make the world better—simply by being exactly who they are. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenOfService #Rotary #JerseyCity #womenwholead
