For about 15 years, basketball was one of the only constants in my life. Honestly, it was my life. I loved it growing up, and at 10 years old I made the decision to give every ounce I had into being as good as I possibly could, every single day.

With that commitment came way more life lessons than young Aidan could’ve ever imagined. As I move forward in life, I realize just how much sports shaped me beyond the court. Basketball taught me mental toughness, an unwavering belief in myself, and showed me that the fruits of your labor only come through intense, consistent hard work. It taught me leadership, how to work with different personalities, how to play alongside people you don’t always like, how to move past mistakes, talk kindly to yourself, gain perspective on the bigger picture of life, and how being strong in the mind is just as important as being physically capable. And most importantly. it taught me to trust the greater plan for my life.

I can safely say I maxed out my potential, and I’m incredibly thankful for the memories with players, coaches, opponents, and most importantly, my dad. Every single time I needed someone to rebound or get shots up with, he was there. Twelve-hour workdays, and he’d still come home, shower, and head to the gym with me for a couple more hours. Finding courts everywhere we went on vacation because the work never stopped. Filming every game and clipping every single highlight of my career. Reaching out to college recruiters, keeping me grounded when things were going well, and believing in me even when I doubted myself.

He’s the reason I was able to do everything I wanted to do in this sport, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
