RED ROCKS. It happened. And I don’t think I’ll ever be over it. It’s as magical as they say—and more💫

The first time I looked up after taking my place on stage, the majestic rocks were glowing and the back rows of the audience seemed to ascend endlessly into the night sky. I took a breath before playing my first note and thought about everyone and everything that brought me to this bucket list venue.

I give much deserved credit to the people who trust me with special opportunities, support me, and surround me forming incredible teams. But I rarely include myself on that gratitude list.

Earlier that day, @mistyboyce, who I was subbing for, texted me, “Happy Red Rocks Day!” I thanked her for the gift of an opportunity. She replied: “Thank yourself! You earned it!” 🥹

What a beautiful reminder. Stay grateful. Give people their much deserved flowers along the way—but save one for yourself 🌹 You put in the time, dedication, training, sweat, tears, and resilience. Your team makes you stronger, but ultimately, you’re the one who chooses to show up, push through the doubts, and see what you’re made of.

Thank you to the entire @lordhuron team for making this day so incredibly memorable, and to everyone here who has been part of this path, however big or small.
And lastly, a new thank you I’m trying to include goes out to me.

We’re taught there’s no “I” in team, but there’s also no “U.” Without U or I, there’s literally no team. It takes ALL of us. It truly takes a village—and damn, what a village I’ve got. Turns out there’s an “I” in village. And “AGE,” which we’re conditioned to feel ashamed of. REFRAME. Age is the culmination of years of experience that helped grow our skills, resilience, self-trust, and professionalism. Age led you here.

You’ve played a big part in getting yourself this far. Give yourself a little love. You’ve earned it 💙

☁️Still landing after this dream☁️

Subbing for 2 weeks in @lordhuron for the unparalleled @mistyboyce on keys/vocals/perc, I had some massive shoes to fill. Hiring a sub for this incredibly active role was not a simple task. I could not have asked for a better teammate to familiarize me with an intricate rig and complex show. Yes, I worked incredibly hard, but there’s a strength that stems from a team coming together to bring a show to life and bring a new player into the fold. Thank you Misty for your professionalism, friendship, mentorship, your respect, and your trust. I am forever grateful.

JaVonte’ Marquez (BFA ’20, Dance) is proof that dreams come true. He joined the cast of “The Lion King” making his Broadway debut on July 14.

JaVonte’ was overjoyed, announcing the news on Instagram, saying: “The first time I saw “The Lion King” at 16 years old, I made a promise to myself: one day, I would be on that stage. From that moment on, I dedicated myself to preparing for this.”

Adding, “To everyone who has supported me, thank you for holding me down while lifting me up. To every teacher, mentor, choreographer, and peer who poured into me, thank you for helping me become the artist I am today. And to myself… thank you for believing, persevering, and continuing to show up, even when the path ahead wasn’t clear.”

We are so proud of you, JaVonte’. Congratulations!

OPENING NIGHT

Some dreams take years of hard work, sacrifice, faith, and perseverance… and today we get to celebrate one coming true.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing @javontemarquez for years, and watching his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Through every audition, every challenge, and every victory, he never stopped believing in what God had for him.

Today, I’m beyond proud to celebrate him for booking his dream job as the Lead Gazelle in Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway. What an incredible and well-deserved accomplishment!

JaVonte, thank you for your patience, your trust, and for allowing FreshTalent Group to be part of your journey. We always believed in you.

JaVonte, your talent, dedication, and heart have brought you to this moment. This is proof that dreams really do come true when preparation meets opportunity.
