Lifting weights isn’t enough.

Obviously we want our high school and college athletes to get stronger, but at some point they also have to learn how to use that strength fast.

That’s why in our power blocks at ISP, we’ll contrast our strength work with jumps, plyometrics, or med ball throws.

We’ll hit a heavier strength movement first, then follow it with something fast and explosive.

The idea is pretty simple: recruit those higher-threshold motor units under load, then give the athlete an opportunity to produce force quickly through a jump or throw.

We want athletes who can produce a lot of force, but we also want them to be able to produce it fast.

Getting stronger matters. But for athletes, it’s what you can do with that strength that matters most.

Everybody throws a baseball. The difference isn’t in the motion, it’s in the work that happens when nobody’s watching. The athletes who become elite are the ones who stay consistent, attack the boring stuff, and show up every day. If you want to separate yourself from everyone else, train like it. Train at ISP.

Speed isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something you train. If you’re tired of feeling slow on the field, court, or diamond, stop guessing and start training with purpose.

Come to ISP. Get tested. Compete. Get faster. ⚡️💨

Everyone wants more playing time, a starting spot, or the scholarship offer. But very few athletes are willing to ask the hard question:

Is my training actually making me better? Showing up to the gym isn’t enough. Doing random workouts you found online isn’t enough. If your speed isn’t improving, your power isn’t increasing, and your movement isn’t getting cleaner, then you’re just burning calories, not building an athlete.

At ISP, every sprint, every lift, every jump, and every throw has a purpose. We don’t train to look busy, we train to get results that show up when the lights come on. If you’re tired of wondering why other athletes keep passing you up, it’s time to stop guessing and start training with intention.

Come train at ISP. Trust the process, earn your spot, and become a dawg. 🐺💪

80mph doesn’t get you recruited anymore. If you need to throw harder then you need to prioritize development, not a crazy summer ball schedule. At ISP, we have programs that develop athletes, not exercises. The weight room should support skill acquisition, not interfere with it. Stop complaining and come train harder!
