THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
What a wonderful day in the sign of color. Ulrika showed how to dye with vegetables, plants and minerals and create exciting clouds of colors.

A fascinating process where the textile is wrapped and steamed. Imagine that dyeing until chemistry came into the car in the 1880s was done this way...

❤️🌸🌿Thank you dear Ulrika for your tour today. We now have the store - St Paulsg 20, Stockholm- full of Ulrika’s vintage silk garments completely dyed naturally.

3 DYE TIPS ~ HOW I STARTED

1. Just start dye whatever you have nearby

2. Follow inspiring plant dyers ~ these are one of my favorites in the beginning; @thedogwooddyer @prophet_of_bloom @caramariepiazza @jaxtorp @billynou

3. Please, dare to try without knowing how it will turn out. There is no right or wrong.

NATURAL DYES - MADE IN STOCKHOLM
We now have a stock of fantastic silk shawls, kimonos, blouses and dyed naturally with spruce needles and rust by Petra and Annika and also NEW - vintage silk from Ulrika!

Due to every kimono and shawl being a one-of-a-kind piece- it’s just available in the shop in Stockholm.

THE STORY OF NATURAL DYES:
Textiles are beaten, boiled, fermented, twisted and pressed with various plant materials and minerals. This is natural dyeing, and it leads to a unique textile print based on the blend of the various elements used. This eco-friendly process culminates in a one-of-a-kind explosion of colour.

Beautiful day in the studio! We started with natural sunlight which then became cloudy and dark. So Mats had anyway to build up the light. But we had so much fun with all the new garments, shawls and new items directly from Morocco with our own courier. Wonderful to work with Amelia, Yanina and Sanna who had to step in at the last moment...
Love you all!❤️

Mystery of Colors - Colorful when Petra showed how she gets the most beautiful creatures to attach to the silk! Conversations around the mystery of colors. The real red color came from South America to Europe by using Koshenille. We have used earth colors since at least 17 000 years ago. We know this from the findings in Lascaux cave in France... and here on Södermalm there were lots of dyers established in the 19th century to dye fabrics for Almgrens silk weaving factory a block away...

Many thanks Petra for a knowledge-filled and developing day!

First photo Petra and Annika who makes the Natural Dyeing for Spirit of Threads🙏🌿

👘Now a few of the new kimonos, kaftans, blouses and shawls remain in the store on St Paulsgatan in Stockholm. We replenish at regular intervals. Everyone becomes unique and have quick access...

If you are interested - we will send you pictures of the ones we have - Send us a message!

Natural Dyeing, Stockholm
Clouds of colour from the flowers and
plants of nature’s pantry.

All garments are one-of-a-kind.
There is quite a buzz building around Natural Dyes right now.
Textiles are being beaten, boiled, fermented, twisted and pressed with various plant materials and minerals like never before. Our desire to reconnect with nature and authentic craftsmanship is becoming the height of fashion. We love it!
Our collaboration with the dyers Annika Sandstedt and Petra Holmberg continues down exciting paths. They create fireworks of colour here in Stockholm on
our textiles produced in India and Greece.
Enjoy these colour clouds from the flowers and plants of nature’s pantry.
Slow Fashion for real!
