Women's Wear Daily (September 23, 1968):
"Andy Warhol and Elektra Records threw a party at Factory on Union Square to introduce Nico's, the underground chanteuse, new album 'The Marble Index.' While listening to the album, in which Nico sings her usual deep throated moody songs, the guests simultaneously watched a film of her by Warhol—of course. After the film and the album everyone feasted on a cold supper from the Brasserie and washed it down with wine. Clothes were the usual freaked out — but good — looks. … Andy, although recovered from Valerie's bullet, looked very thin, pale and wan."

Kay Bartlett wrote for the Associated Press (September 20, 1968):

"There were superstars galore Thursday night as Andy Warhol, artist and producer of underground movies, hosted his first party since he was shot by one of his proteges early in June. 'He's even more profound and more beautiful now than before if that's possible,' said Ingrid Superstar of the man who has two Campbell's Soup cans in the Museum of Modern Art. Warhol himself said he saw no 'new Warhol' as a result of the shooting. 'Before I thought it would be fun be dead. Now I know it's fun to be alive,' said Warhol… 'It didn't change Andy,' said Brigid Polk. 'He's today. That was yesterday.' The party, at 'The Factory'… was thrown for the introduction of Nico's new album, 'The Marble Index,' an ear-piercing 16 minutes that everyone said was beautiful.
'It truly was,' said Warhol. 'Nico spent the whole summer writing it in the bathtub. … Warhol, a pale man who streaks his hair silver, has decided not to press charges against Valerie Solanas, the 28-year-old actress charged in the shooting that kept him in the hospital for nearly two months. She is undergoing psychiatric treatment.
Nico, a tall redhead who refuses to give her age—'I'm too old to talk about it'—said her album was 'like a movie. It has all the senses in it and it is in my line,' which is Warhol talk for doing your own thing. Will it succeed? 'Of course. There's very little good music around.'"

Andy Warhol, Paul Palmero, Pierre Bergé, Jed Johnson, Sandy Brant, Fred Hughes, Peter Brant, Zouzou, Jay Johnson, Peter O'Toole, Pat Hackett, Glenn O'Brien, Jude Jade, Joan Juliet Buck, and François-Marie Banier in 1972.

Andy's film "Heat" was screened at the New York Film Festival on October 5, 1972. Opening the festival was "Love in the Afternoon," starring Zouzou. Peter O'Toole starred in "The Ruling Class," which had its theatrical release that September, and he appeared on the October 1972 cover of Interview.

In 1972, Glenn O'Brien was the managing editor of Interview, and his wife Jude Jade sold advertising before Sandy Brant became the director of advertising. Peter Brant had interest in the magazine and funded Andy’s film "L'Amour" (1972).

Women's Wear Daily (September 22, 1972):
"The Chopstick Set: The Andy Warhol crowd was calling its gathering Marina Schiano's stag party and indeed the corner table at Pearl's in New York Wednesday night looked that way. Surrounding Marina, were Andy, who's planning to stage Halston's Coty Awards presentation Oct. 19, YSL's Pierre Berge, wearing a brown McGovern button in his brown print bowtie, French writer Marie Francois Banier, Giles Marambeau, Paul Palmero, superstar Jed, and Fred Hughes, who's given up his center-part hairdo for a side part. The whole crew was downing clams in black bean sauce including Marina who swears she doesn't eat but her friends say she buys 12 Hershey bars at a time. Meanwhile, Danny Kaye was busy running back and forth to the kitchen supervising his own dinner of shredded abalone and cellophane noodles and talking to the chef. Also in the room, jewelry designers Michael Moreaux and Peter Dubow."

During the filming of "Bad," Clarke Taylor wrote in Newsday (July 11, 1976):

"King is as 'mainstream' as any actor Warhol could hope to enlist. And yet he is an off-center Hollywood actor. 'Slaughterhouse Five,' 'The Possession of Joel Delaney,' and even 'The Lords of Flatbush' were films for marginal audiences.
'This is a very traditional film in many ways,' King says. 'There's a script; it's shot very professionally; even the pay scale is about what I'd expect for any film just now... There is a distinct Warhol attitude behind the script.'… Pat Hackett has written 'Bad' in collaboration with George Abagnolo. Both have been associated with Warhol for six years, working out of his Union Square offices (The Factory) on a variety of projects, from his monthly magazine Interview to gallery openings.
'We wanted to make a professional film so we could have coffee on the set every morning. You really know you're up, working,' Miss Hackett says, chuckling. 'We also needed parts for women; they're the ones hanging around The Factory who need work.
We just sat down and considered what every girl we knew would do if she were really bad, and Andy said, "Make it our kind of bad," so it's "Andy Warhol's Bad."'... Jed Johnson is actually directing 'Bad' but, being a long-time Warhol associate, he collaborates closely with Miss Hackett, the actors, and, of course, Warhol. Johnson, at 26, is the youngest known director of a professional film. He has edited Warhol's major films to date. Like Warhol, he is shy, retiring, reluctant to explain himself or his film and understandably very nervous about directing his first. He, like most of the people around The Factory, is clean-cut, conservatively dressed, unaffected, another contrast with the Warhol image projected over the years.
'He makes no effort to communicate his concept of the film,' Perry King says, 'but it's a strong concept, and you begin to feel it. You learn to use a shorthand with the Warhol people, but there is nothing weird or freaky about them, as I'd imagined before signing on.'"

REMEMBER SUMMER? What’s better than Pizza 🍕 on the beach 🏖️ ? On this weeks episode of @hommeandgarden TV… summer is decidedly not over. Guillaume’s parents visit from Paris, we spend a cute little weekend in Shelter Island (my fave staycation), Tom and Jay have a chic Irish Step Dance party (you read that right), Gardening, Planting, skimming and other wellness activities. I force Guillaume to take a cliche photo in front of the flag rock, and Arthur exhibits his best in clase fine dining behavior. Thanks @manhattandogclub 🐾.

Abigail worked the door at Max's Kansas City and co-founded the Off Center Theater. She appeared with Viva in Andy's film "Tub Girls" (1967). In a 2007 interview with Gary Comenas of Warholstars.org, she said:

"I recall the photo session as if it were yesterday. Susan [Viva] called and asked if I wanted to be in the photo shoot, said Andy told her to call me. I said 'sure.' But, I could tell there was something going on because Susan kept down playing it and telling me that it was not important and not worth my time. She also told me that it was at 1:00 p.m.
So, I arrived early cause I assumed that there would be make-up and stuff. When I arrived, they were already on the set deciding who would sit where. I walked in off the street. Philippe took one look at me and said 'sit over there.' I did. Then he said, 'Why are you late?' And I said, 'I'm early. Susan said the shoot was at 1:00 p.m.' He said, 'It was for 11.' Everybody laughed because they knew what was going on. I didn't have a clue. I apologized and said that I must have written it down wrong. Susan gave that shit-eating grin that she gives when she gets caught and later I learned that Susan didn't want to be photographed with Blacks or pets—that they took the attention away from her. Lordy, can you imagine being on the set with those 'stars' and thinking that all eyes were on you?"

In the 1980s, Abigail encountered Andy at a party at Jean-Michel Basquiat's: "I go… 'Hi, Andy, you may not remember me, I was in a…' and he interrupted me saying, 'Abigail Rosen, the only actress I ever had with any training, I hear you have two boys and married a straight actor—here have a seat next to me, your son must be all grown up by now.' It was that great 'who is she? who is she?' moment that all Cinderellas have in their lifetimes and I truly appreciated it."

Finally starting to catch up a little on life.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, lent something, made something, sacrificed their entire summer (@richardhaining @scott_daniel, @mirandaageenyc, @mm_forster, @timpbutcher), traveled great distances @grietjeschepers, answered an unhinged phone call (all of you), spoke to me 8 times a day (that’s you @theigracecompany), or simply checked in.
The room is beyond and it is all of ours.
All of the prop joints were mysteriously taken and to those people, let me know how that worked out. 😂
And @torreyllc cementing our friendship by insisting on sitting on the turtle for the group shot.
Lastly, if you took a picture with me that night, please send my way. I have nothing but these and know they are out there somewhere.

Ernest Leogrande wrote in the NY Daily News (March 26, 1976):

"Rock guitarist Robin Trower's management proudly announced they had flown in from England 'the largest sound system ever assembled for a U.S. concert tour,' 16 tons worth.
Anyone at Trower's Madison Square Garden engagement Wednesday night had to concede his people had done something awesome. If Ella Fitzgerald's voice on Memorex tape can split a glass, Trower on amplified ax could split an atom.
The British rocker, who made his name in the now-defunct Procol Harum group, operates with what is considered the rock group minimum, a trio, James Dewar on bass and vocals and Bill Lordan on drums. ... Wishbone Ash, a rock quintet with British origins, got to the sound system first and had the crowd yelling for more, as if they were headliners.
A party with Trower as the guest of honor was held afterward in the chic Tower Suite of the Time-Life Building, a sharp contrast with the beer and soda-spattered Garden. Co-hosts were Trower's record company; Howard Stein, the show's producer, and Andy Warhol, on behalf of his Interview magazine. Warhol's role in the party was said to try to induce a more audience sophisticated, older audience to turn on to Trower, too."

Cash Box (April 3, 1976):
"Last Wednesday night was a busy night on the N.Y. rock and roll circuit. There was Elliott Murphy making a rare N.Y. concert appearance at the Bottom Line, Patti Smith getting mixed reviews at Avery Fisher Hall and Robin Trower and Wishbone Ash (who secured an encore) at the Garden. Capping all this activity was a party given for Tower at a suite in the Time-Life Building, which was attended by the members of Genesis, Lou Reed, Rick Derringer and Andy Warhol. Also attending were Robin Trower and his band and Wishbone Ash."

"August 20, 1976, New York—Only His Ultraness King Halston could call a party for late Friday night, mid-summer, and keep the following ultra-weekenders away from Flame Island and the Smarthamptons: Bianca Jagger, Marisa Berenson, Prince Egon Von Furstenberg, Cesare Barro, Peter Beard, Beverly Johnson, Francois De Menil, Dennis Hopper, Bobby Neuwirth, Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, Linda Hutton, Chris Levin, Tom Cashin, Jay Johnson, Jed Johnson, Sue Johnson, Keller Donovan, Dmitri Kritsas, Shelly Dunn, Pepe Baldaraggo, Christopher Makson, Michel Klein, Joel Le Bon, Wallace Potts, and Marita the model who goes bottomless in Guy Bourdin's catalogue for Bloomingdales. DD Ryan, as chinoise as always, stayed all the way from Nantucket just to be there. In fact, Empress Vreeland, who never ventures further out on Long Island than CZ Guest's place in Old Westbury, was the only person there not cutting into a cherished weekend by the sea. 'There’s nothing like summer in the city, I always say!' said she. Joe Eula wore Yves Saint Laurent's new look. Moet et Chandon flowed as it should, not to mention the waves of Stolichnaya. Towards dawn, the recently engaged stars of the Broadway orgy Let My People Come, Pat Cleveland and Sterling St. Jacques, appeared on a balcony, wearing not much more than Halston Couture bunny masks, and ultra-danced."
