BAT LIPS — HESPERUS 12” LP The debut full-length from Austin, TX industrial hardcore trio BAT LIPS arrives October 16th via Second Engine Records. Featuring Paris Mygatt on guitar/vocals, Lukas Magalee on drums, and Domonic Candy on bass, Bat Lips weld the immediacy and aggression of hardcore to the cold, mechanical pulse of industrial music. Rooted in the late-’90s and 2000s hardcore scene and pulling from artists like Front Line Assembly, Ministry and Throbbing Gristle, the trio builds its sound around brutal guitars, blast beats, punishing low end and machine-driven electronic chaos. Following 2024’s POWDER EP, HESPERUS pushes that foundation considerably further. Across 12 tracks, Bat Lips pull industrial hardcore into stranger territory, folding in death metal, drum & bass, acid house and ambient electronics, with influences ranging from Death and The Locust to Underworld and Venetian Snares. The result is a record that can feel violently immediate one moment and deeply synthetic and disorienting the next. Written in the months immediately following POWDER, HESPERUS was self-produced by Bat Lips, mixed and engineered by Dave Alcan, and mastered by Jay Maas. Paris Mygatt’s lyrics turn inward while confronting a technology-saturated world, exploring imprisonment, surveillance, identity and the search for self amid the noise. Early singles “Mouth Of Webs” and “My Divinity” offer two very different entrances into the record—the former a breakneck metallic assault, the latter driven by heaving synth pulses, crushing bass and one of the band’s most immediate hooks. Together, they only hint at how far HESPERUS stretches Bat Lips’ self-described brand of “crate-digger hardcore.” THE PRESSING Limited to 150 copies 12” vinyl • 33 RPM Coke Bottle Clear/Green with Red Splatter 12 tracks • 6 per side SIDE A 1. RAINBOWMACHINE is out now. The new album from onelinedrawing, produced by Jay Maas, is officially here. Built from songs written across different eras of Jonah Matranga’s life, the record gathers together ideas that lingered for years, melodies that refused to disappear, and collaborations that only made sense once they were already happening. For Matranga, known for his work in Far, New End Original, Gratitude, and the ever-evolving world of onelinedrawing, many of these songs have been around for a long time. Not unfinished. Not forgotten. Just somewhere else — waiting. Layered guitars, anxious haze, towering hooks, and emotionally raw songwriting. Listen everywhere now. Vinyl available from Iodine.
