My tribe, my tribe, my tribe!
I personally thank you! Get you a tribe of support and love like mine. I didn’t want to listen and they nominated me, so I had no choice but to STOP and RETREAT!

The reset was overdue.
The restoration happened.
The Let go , of survival mode is taking place.
It’s ok to get help, not control or have my hand in everything.
Have confidence in knowing I’m right where I need to be. As a nonprofit founder, personal aspects of my life and professionally as I continue to develop and work on endeavors and self.
The importance of clarity hearing Gods voice was present.
Gods revelations he had for me was right on time as always.
The connections were authentic, so much vulnerability realness and rawness.
New relationships was formed.
I’m in my Light, God has created and it’s continuing to brighten.

This weekend reminded me of the why.
This weekend instructed me to re-establish boundaries.
This weekend instructed me to try new things and be confident in that, (drop them Jewels of knowledge) stop shrinking for others comfortability.
( I participated in a podcast)😊 I’m usually introverted!!

This weekend has taught me to stop go mode and kick up the honoring me mode, by remembering to reset the nervous system and to be gentle with self.
More importantly if it serves no purpose. L. I. G….it!

Let’s be real, many seasons of my life has brought many changes, challenges and growth but baby this season right here , right now!!! My God is all I can say… I’m embracing, stretching, growing and glowing, through it all.

What’s understood needs no explanation other than I thank you again my sistas of love and light!!
@womensfndoregon this retreat is necessary, it’s beautiful and restorative. The hospitality was exceptional, workshops and discussions fed my soul…location @calderaarts , my pictures do no justice …just basking in the moment, 😆 This retreat is so special and needed🙌🏿💕🌺💯.

happy last day of 2025 from Next Up! ✨

this year was… well… A Lot. but as the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on our work, and the community we’ve built that helps us stay resilient through it all.🫂

in 2025, the Next Up team: led the Student Voice and Democracy Act (HB 3012) alongside @uniteoregon, launched our first-ever Youth Philanthropy Academy, kicked off our Deep Canvassing program, welcomed new staff members 🥳, had another amazing year with CAT and UPTURN, hosted a very successful Celestial Soirée 🌟; showed out to lobby days, city council meetings, conferences, and SO much more!

oh… and we just hit 10K followers on here!!! 🥹💖 yay!

we’re so beyond grateful for all of you, and cannot wait for everything we have in store for 2026! 🎉

see you all in the new year! xoxo, the Next Up team <3

And that’s a wrap on Next Up’s 2025 Winter Ball . . . 💫 🪐 🌠

From incredible youth speakers Bethel and Beatrice, to inspiration from policy queen Councilor Angelita Morillo (@pnwpolicyangel), to the amazing DJs (@zyahbelle @theteahouseor @yoitsvo), to the insanelyyyy talented Passa Flora crew—this year’s Celestial Soirée was, dare we say, out of this world... 🌌

Thanks to you we were able to raise just under $60k (!!!) blowing past our original $50k goal! ✨

A special thank you to everyone who came out to gather in community and celebrate our work with us on Thursday night. We loved getting to see all your beautiful faces (and fits 💅)—we’re beyond grateful for you all! 🥹

XOXO,
The Next Up Team <3

🔗 P.S. Help us choose next year’s Winter Ball theme!! Head to the link in our bio to cast your vote for 2026... 🗳️ Currently in the lead: Vampire Masquerade Ball 🧛‍♀️🩸

P.P.S. OK, I know we said “that’s a wrap” and all, but we have soooo many pics that absolutely need to be shared so... stay tuned for a photobooth + film dump 👀 🎞️

Just convened the largest Re:power Women of Color cohort in history. 🔥 We gathered in Baltimore, held sacred space, and did the real work 🫶🏾 Storytelling, healing, power.

This is what liberation looks like when we lead on our own terms. 🖤 #RePower #WOCLeaders #LiberationInPractice @repowerorg

Join us again this year June 22nd for Year 3 of The Bethie, our annual grass volleyball fundraiser. This fundraiser started to honor my sister, Elizabeth Alexander-Blake and her legacy of loving volleyball and her community. Donations and funds raised through this event support kids in East County being able to go to volleyball camp for free 🤎 It’s a great way to have some fun, get a little tan, and be in community with some amazing people.

Please sign up! We have different skill levels of play all are welcome. Don’t play volleyball? That’s okay! Wiping the dust off after a few years? That’s okay! In the gym 5 days a week playing volleyball? What’s one more day!?

Please RSVP on the event page and complete the registration form ASAP.

We had the incredible honor of hosting The Leilani Foundation’s Gumbo Fundraiser Dinner here at Sisterhood Kitchen Collective!

Led by the powerful and inspiring Lydia Jackson, this evening was more than just a meal, it was a celebration of Black woman-led brilliance and the deep, transformative work @theleilanifoundation22 is doing in our community. From advocating for maternal health to creating healing-centered spaces for Black women and families, Lydia and her phenomenal team are changing lives every day.

And did we mention? Lydia is not only the founder of this impactful nonprofit, she’s also a doula dedicated to bringing love, care, and advocacy to birthing people. She is a true unsung heroine and a shining example of what community leadership looks like.

Stay tuned…there just might be more to come from Ms. Lydia Jackson and SKC! We’re in early conversations about her possibly joining us as a member and offering her soulful pickup-to-go meals through our kitchen. We’ll keep you posted!

This is what sisterhood looks like! 😘

obligatory best pics, places, and people of 2024.

gap year was a year of jubilation in resistance, a year of organizing, learning, travel, and growth. special shoutout to all my comrades in @pslportland who have kept me sane, grounded, and motivated in all of the chaos this year has seen. the fight for a better world, a just world, is what drives me, and there is nowhere else I’d rather be to fight for it <3
