I can honestly say my nervous system would like a lot more of this. 🥹

Research shows us that these type of gentle interactions with animals increase oxytocin, dopamine and all our feel good endorphins while decreasing cortisol, one of our stress hormones. Even just 10 minutes of petting a dog or cat has been shown to significantly shift our state and lower stress levels.

Especially if you’re someone recovering from trauma or living with PTSD, connecting with an animal can feel safer and less demanding than connecting with another person.

That connection can be enough to begin helping your system regulate, offering more reassuring experiences of companionship and comfort. This is why animal-assisted therapy can be so supportive if you’re in recovery.🤍

Another reason spending time with animals can feel so healing is their ability to connect with the present moment, as we co-regulate with them it invites our nervous system to attune to to the present as well.

Check out @puppy_yogaclub and see if there are any classes in your area. :)

I had a day to sneak in some play time last week while I was in Cali, so I went and gave supermoto a try in the 108° desert heat. What a wicked fun time! Thanks Brian @socalsupermoto for your moto wisdom and making this a great experience for a newbie like me and thanks @jaybellski for sharing your spot and your passion with me. 🔥

In a world this chaotic, and in an industry so often fueled by ego and insecurity, there’s nothing better than spending time with good people who leave you buzzing and energized. Life is short and precious… surround yourself with those who uplift you, never drain you, and where egos don’t get in the way. 🤙🏼
