What a postseason run! 👏 Your UBCO softball team put up a great effort at the CCSA Championships in Oshawa, ON, ending their season in the quarterfinal round. To get there, the Heat won two thrilling pool play games, defeating the Western Mustangs 9-8 and the University of Saskatchewan 11-10.  The Heat finish their year with a 21-12-1 overall record with a second-place regular season finish and a silver medal at the WCSA Championship.

Congratulations to M⚽️ Will Armitage and W🥎 Jayda Labonte for being named this week’s Athletes of the Week powered by Meal Prep For You!! Armitage made an instant impact in his first game as a member of the Heat, scoring the team’s first goal of the year in the 29th minute against Trinity Western on Thursday. He recorded two shots on goal in and played the full 90 minutes of play, while in his next contest against the Victoria Vikes, he earned the start again and appeared in 75 minutes. Labonte was a strikeout machine in her first two games as a pitcher for the Heat. Over the weekend, she surrendered just one hit to nine batters across 2.2 innings against Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday, and she struck out six of the 13 hitters she faced in a two-inning appearance in a 7-5 victory over the Mount Royal Cougars on Sunday. 📸: @thompsonnmedia
