POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

About the song : “Amar Raat Pohalo” is a poignant Rabindra Sangeet about farewell, the end of a life phase, and peaceful surrender. It uses the metaphor of an autumn dawn to signify that the “night” (life/struggle) has ended, and it is time for the soul to depart, leaving its art (the flute) behind.

About the costume : sober sarees, worn in a modest draping with Uttariyas (stoles in batik and traditional hand made motifs of Bengal) that moves with the dancer, carrying feelings of longing, devotion, and joy.

About the emotion : I feel connected to Guru Rabindranath Thakur as I have grown up seeing him being worshipped by my mother Smt Chaitali Majumdar-a Rabindra sangeet exponent and my first Guru. My childhood was filled with stories, songs, and books woven around his life and works. I visualise him sitting by window, deeply lost in nature while lessons continued in his class. I feel that he told me how he used to run across the corridors of his Royal Thakurbari to escape from the scolding of his father, and so on….
I am blessed to be trying to emote what he felt while composing this song-through my dance. 🙏🏻

Gratitude to Mrs Chinu Das and Mr. Sujit Bhawal for this opportunity. #rabindrajayanti2026 #amarraatpohalo #alo #rabindranritya❤️ #rabindranath_tagore
