Motherhood has a way of changing you slowly, deeply, and forever.

When you first become a mom, you think the hard parts are the sleepless nights, the diapers, the constant giving of yourself to tiny humans who need you for everything. And then they grow.

Babies need your arms.
Toddlers need your patience.
School-age kids need your presence.
Teenagers need your steadiness.
Adult children need your wisdom, prayers, and the ability to lovingly let go while still being there.

Every stage asks something different of a mother.
And every stage teaches a mother something new.

What I’m realizing more and more is that the longer I am a mother, the more grateful I become for my own mom. Because now I see what I couldn’t fully understand before — the emotional weight she carried, the sacrifices she made quietly, the strength it took to keep showing up through every phase of our lives.

As mothers age, we gain wisdom, perspective, and a deeper understanding of love that stays faithful through every season. And somewhere along the way, many of us stop simply needing our mothers… and start deeply appreciating them.

There is something sacred about women walking each other through generations of motherhood — daughters becoming mothers, mothers becoming grandmothers, all of us learning as we go.

Today I’m thankful for the women who went before me, loved imperfectly but faithfully, and taught me that motherhood is not about mastering every stage — it’s about continuing to love through every stage.
