In the blink of an eye 9 years have passed.
When I was in 3rd grade the dream was to be a professional bass fisherman. By the time I was in my teens skateboarding had become my entire world thanks to my older brother Wyland. Somewhere along the way I strayed from my path. Pursued park management and forestry for a time. Was lucky enough to work for our local bait shop. Immersed myself into angling again. Thus Local Water was then born. Pandemic hit, I lost my father, continued to lose friends and family to death. Destroyed myself through grief and somehow made it out alive. Yet regardless of what I endured it was fishing and the outdoors that saved me. My love for writing kept my spirit a float. Genuinely sharing who I was because why not ? Never considered myself special or better than the next because fishing had already humbled me in that department so many times. I’m still learning till this day. I am thankful for those who are still here. I have the utmost gratitude for those who know my story. Love for my parents that pushed me to be exactly who I was meant to be. I owe my mother Bertha everything for the gift of life, my father Paul Love Sr for the gift of fishing. None of this could exist without them.
If you are reading this then hear me now. It is not over, do not give up, there is much more in store. Next year Local Water will be 10 years old. An I look forward to every second of living until that day comes.
To the happy little Paul deep down inside of me. I hope that I’ve made you proud…

There was no original plan for “Local Water” when it started other than to showcase my writing and be in the outdoors. Using it as space to house my words and emotions built through my fishing experiences. Being apart of the community and embracing the journey. To think that it has lasted this long, that I am still inspired, the drive ever present. My hat goes off to you guys. My friends and folks. The family I’ve built by the water. It’s what keeps me going. My dreams are alive and thriving because fishing itself keeps that in sight for me. The ups and downs I’ve experienced while trying to maintain have been incomprehensible. But fishing in its entirety is a game of knowledge and endurance. It will forever be the outlet that keeps my life in check. Gives myself and many others a purpose. Mother Nature is the provider and savior of the soul when called upon. Catching a fish and setting it free. Collecting your catch and enjoying the fruits of your labor. Which ever the case may be we as anglers have chosen the outside world to be our place of peace. Gratitude always at the beginning and end of the day. A huge and humbling thank you to everyone involved. The energy is appreciated. Praying that I can return the favor in all the best ways possible. Love bless.
