Was Luigi actually hidden in the Super Mario 64 source code all along? 👇

Check out my full YouTube Video about Mario 64

For decades, the "L is Real 2401" statue in the castle courtyard fueled one of the biggest urban legends in gaming history. While we couldn't find him in 1996, the 2020 Nintendo source code leaks finally proved that a character model for Luigi did exist in the original development files!

Did you believe the Luigi rumors back in the day? Let me know in the comments!

It has arrived: The Mega Man Zero/ZX OST collection!

Another fantastic box set by the fine folks over at @laced_audio, this 5LP collection is pressed with some of the best tunes from the four Zero titles originally released on Gameboy Advance, plus a nice selection from both ZX and ZX Advent for the Nintendo DS.

The box and sleeves are once again adorned by ultimatemaverickx's beautiful artwork. I especially love the box cover's scenic vibe, but all of the sleeves are also great in their own way.

The vinyls themselves are the usual heavyweight quality and this set features a yellow (side A) and red (side B) motif, which is very vibrant. Looking forward to popping these on the Audio-Technica for a spin! 😁🎶

Hi InstaStreetFighters!
It’s time for Friday awesomeness again with #FightingGameFriday , which is a weekly celebration of both the fighting game and beat em up genres.

Today’s game of choice is inspired by the generosity of one of the nicest people I’ve ever been fortunate enough to cross paths with, and one of my fave feeds on Instagram. I’m dedicating today’s post to my friend @audio_video_retro_geek who kindly sent me a goody package earlier around September last year, which included this ultra cool CAPCOM STREET FIGHTER ALPHA NOTEPAD. If you don’t follow him, do yourself a favour, he has so many awesome slices of gaming history, and most of it obscure…

STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 🇬🇧/ 🇺🇸

STREET FIGHTER ZERO 🇯🇵

Every now and then a franchise relaunches itself and change occurs in the interest of fitting i’s audience for that generation. This was a very brave move by CAPCOM, the first of 3 Alpha titles, all of which are fantastic fighters that I still play today, and adore. Alpha is a prequel to STREET FIGHTER II featuring only a younger Chun Li, Ken, Ryu, and Sagat from the original roster accompanied by new bloods Charlie, Guy, Birdie, Sodom, Adon, and Rose.

It’s a solid fighter and a 9.5/10 for me.

My go to’s are Ken and Ryu, who are yours?

Have a most excellent weekend!

Absolutely — here’s a version loaded with tons more emojis while keeping the story fun and expressive! 🎮🇯🇵✨

Today I spent the day exploring a few retro gaming stores here in Japan 🇯🇵🎌🎮 and I thought I’d bring you along for the ride! 🚶‍♂️🧳✨ I made stops at Book Off and Hard Off, two legendary treasure-hunting spots packed with nostalgia, surprises, and pure retro magic 🎁📦🕹️💥

Walking through the aisles felt like stepping into a time machine ⏳⚡ — shelves overflowing with old consoles 🧩🎮, mountains of controllers 🕹️🧃, stacks of classic games 💾📀, and quirky collectibles hiding in every corner 👀✨.

And yes… I scored BIG today 😄🔥 I walked away with a whole pile of gaming controllers 🎮🎮🎮, a beautiful Nintendo Wii U console 🟦💙✨, and even a bunch of laserdiscs 📀🌈 — which are still surprisingly popular here in Japan! 🇯🇵💿💖

But here’s the truth: as a tourist, it’s super difficult to find the rare, exciting stuff unless you can travel outside the big cities 🚇❌➡️🚗💨. The real gems — the forgotten bargains, the untouched collections, the hidden gold — are usually sitting in shops far from Tokyo’s busy center 🌆❌🏞️✔️.

So if you’re coming to Japan and want to go retro-game hunting, rent a car 🚗🔑✨, head out to the suburbs and countryside 🌄🌲🛣️, and let the adventure unfold. That’s where the magic really is! 🗺️💫🎮

All in all, an amazing day filled with nostalgia, discovery, and pure retro joy 😍🕹️🌟 Japan always delivers when it comes to finding gaming treasures! 🎌🎉💖

Shout out to my first N64 experience with Pilotwings 64; where I stood in a circle with other teenagers awaiting a turn on a single tv cabinet at our local Zellers. I remember being amazed by the visuals which havnt aged to well but the game is still fun to pick up and play today.
- the box like many other of my n64 boxes have been flattened with many moves as well as just time on shelves. Still looks great on the shelf!
