We are an idea . A unified front of individualized expression . We understand that there is much happening in the dance community and too many options to choose from . So we don’t ask you to choose . If you feel your best growth comes from our assistance you are welcome to stay . If you only have time sometimes , that is okay . A home isn’t the only place you go , but it is where you reside . And that’s what we stand for . A home , a family , a unit . There are even people beyond the borders of the city and country who are with us in spirit . The next step will be the global initiative to further expand and reach them too . For now we want NYC to know , we are here . Let’s collaborate , let’s grow , let’s fuckin go !!! 🤝💪💪💪🔝

Hello World ,
We are the DENIZENS , your curators for what is becoming more and more known as THE DEN freestyle session . Our unique purpose is focusing on the sub-foundation of mental navigation . Being able to create a resting point in your mind that you travel from and back to during your sets . We tackle the common and pervasive problem of overwhelming energy and underdeveloped creativity that plagues dancers regardless of what classes they take and knowledge they amass . The ability to map is one that is primal and precedes both dance and everyday life . You have to know your way around yourself and that means two things being willing to venture and being able to chart . Movement cartography is also a few steps shy of choreography in that you are aware of what you can do and where you can go but how you get from A to B through many paths is determined by the relationship of both you and the music .
In our sessions/cyphers we play ranges of music to challenge the status quo of comfort and limited predictability in songs to shape a personalized formula that can be used and applied to many genres regardless of one’s emotional attachment to them . In our labs , we cover rhythmic changes , transitional movement options , local and global relativity in one’s own body , and texture definition to differentiate between sound expressions and execution . There’s lots to share and we’d love to have more focused and passionate dancers in our spaces so come through and know that you are welcome !

As many of you may know , our event EXCHANGE 33 ROUNDS got postponed , however our fundraiser is still up and active . If you can find it in your hearts to donate to us your funds will be going toward more camera equipment , merchandise costs and venue coverage so we can provide space for dancers to session and cipher indoors especially for future events .
