There are some rooms that carry a little extra weight. I had the privilege of speaking at the Stonewall Inn about WE DO, the stories behind it and the journey that led me to write it. The Q & A was led by the iconic @janjanjan and I’m still on cloud nine. As a member of the LGBTQ+ wedding community, being able to share that conversation in such a historic place was incredibly special. Marked safe from Kim Davis today 😉 … and enjoying Palm Springs Pride. It feels right to be here this weekend … surrounded by community, love, and energy…all of us coalescing around the idea of how we protect ourselves and each other. The last photo is the very spot where our lawsuit first ignited. I wanted it to be at the LA LGBTQ CENTER . I sat there giving my first CNN interview years ago and asked: What if our “yes” mattered? Today the Supreme Court of the United States refused to revisit the case of Kim Davis, former clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, who denied same-sex couples marriage licenses on religious grounds. What that means: the landmark right af equal protection under the 14th Amendment remains standing, and public officials can’t pick and choose who to serve under the law. Here’s the truth: My story isn’t just about winning a lawsuit. It’s about showing up, telling the truth of who you are, building the network of love and courage around you, and believing you can change the world. When you live out loud, and you find your people who stand with you …love wins, period. So yes, today I’m safe from Kim Davis. But that doesn’t mean the work is done. If you’ve been hiding your story because you think it doesn’t matter…it does. If you’ve been quiet because you thought you were alone …you’re not. Let’s keep standing. Let’s keep building. Let’s keep affirming the rule of law, the dignity of every person, and the power of love.
