Place an introvert in the spotlight, and he will still find a way to sing from the shadows. Thirty years after pouring “Whiskey”, his first album, Jay-Jay Johanson still tours the world with his core trio. An angelic face and voice, whose musical trajectory ran parallel to a rich dialogue with fashion. Usually sporting his Comme des Garçons uniform, he has performed wearing Prada, Lemaire and even walked for Balenciaga. Hedi Slimane, whom he first met in José Levy’s office, later designed his wedding suit.

Johanson remains a figure of quiet elegance and modesty, forever translating his private ghosts into a universal shelter. He is a member of the ASVOFF 2026 jury.
