Healthy Obsession is a deeply personal expression of my devotion to my faith. This song explores the concept of an all-consuming yet life-giving passion for God, portraying this relationship as a “healthy obsession.” Through simple but introspective lyrics, soulful melodies, & a powerful message, I express the joy, surrender, and reverence that come with loving my Savior. The track captures the essence of my faith journey—one marked by grace and glory—while inviting listeners to reflect on their own connection to God.

In John 14:15, Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commands.” This song isn’t about my perfection; it’s about how His perfect love is perfecting me. The hook reflects this truth: even when I fall short or love Him less, it’s no excuse—I will strive to do better. My undying love and persistent devotion compel me to keep His commands joyfully. My soul longs to speak for Him, to speak to Him, and to speak about Him. Healthy Obsession is my honest declaration that, despite my shortcomings, I will pursue His will with all I have, because my love for Him compels me to try.

It’s crazy how the simplest things can go the longest way. This beat was born on a whim after my friend @willeography challenged me to create a soulful afrobeat track. I took up the challenge right after releasing “I Got Next” from my Hoops mixtape, and Healthy Obsession came to life.

What’s mind-blowing is how the simplest lyrics can carry the deepest impact. If my obsession with God were unhealthy, I’d become a zealot, a Pharisee, or a hypocrite who condemns others. But with a healthy obsession for my King, I approach Him like a child of God—humble, pure, and eager to grow. That’s the emotion Healthy Obsession awakens in me every time I hear it.

There’s so much more outside of MN and I’m honestly hurt that I have to go back 😏.. but this isn’t the last time I’ll be in Texas. I had an amazing time being with my other halves 💙💙! The love ran deep and the people were kind 🙏🏾. Being here with these two has given me time to feel like myself again 💯. I can’t wait to see you both soon!
