New neighborhood bar has finally been given a name. Welcome to Mic’s Bar, the latest addition to West Hollywood’s nightlife scene, located in the former FUBAR space at 7994 Santa Monica Blvd. The bar officially opened in late June, but remained nameless until this past weekend.

A new Instagram account, @micsbarla, was recently launched. It describes the venue as: “Your new favorite local hangout bar. Day drinkin’. Last callin’. Good timin’. Neighborhood bar. Everyone welcome (unless you’re an a-hole). Happy hour every single damn day!”

According to its mission statement, Mic’s Bar strives to be “your favorite local neighborhood bar where everyone feels welcome, safe, and a little buzzed.”

Jay Krymis, who co-owns Schmitty’s WeHo with his wife, Michel Verdi Krymis, asked patrons to submit name suggestions for the new space. Among the contenders listed on the bar’s Instagram were B-Jay’s, NuBar, Faux Bar, Cock, and Lucky’s. Ultimately, “Mic’s” — scrawled on a plain white piece of paper — was the winning choice.

Krymis said the vision for the bar was to create a welcoming, cozy environment filled with light and energy, which is very different from its predecessor.
