I learned real quick that there is no true instruction manual for parenting. But one major key I’ve learned along the journey is this: parenting requires total dependence on and trust in the Gift Giver.

Every year you’ve grown, and with every major transition in your life, I’ve had to trust the leading of God. After many tears, and after having to tear down some of my own need for control and protection, I can honestly say it has not been easy. But I’ve learned that one of the greatest keys to parenting is simply showing up.

Showing up in the ways that matter most for the season you’re in. Parenting from that place.

And I saw that clearly this week. When you were sick and miles away from home, I couldn’t be there physically to ease the pain or protect you in that moment. I wrestled with whether to jump on the highway or step back and let you be an adult. But when you were in the hospital, I realized that even though I wasn’t there in person, I still did not want you to face that moment alone.

So we stayed on FaceTime for six hours, until I knew you were okay. Falling asleep on and off, but as long as I knew you were alright, that was what mattered most to me. I just didn’t want you going through it alone.

And even in that moment, I had to trust God.

What I’m learning now is how to parent an adult. It’s not always easy because, yes, you are my baby. But I also know you’ve grown into a young woman. So because of that, I want you to know that no matter your age, I will always do my best to show up for you.

I am so proud of you.

And above all, I trust God with you, because you belong to Him first!

Happy Birthday @jaylah_mo . 🎊🎊🎊
I love You!! 🫶🏽❤️💕🎀

This weekend, Soror Hicks and Soror Cooper proudly attending the Big XII Conference, where we had the opportunity to grow as leaders and strengthen our commitment to service. 💙🤍

We engaged in impactful workshops, gained valuable insight on leadership development, and were especially honored to attend Jay Todd’s @jay_todd26 powerful session titled “Black PTSD.” The experience was both enlightening and affirming.

Beyond the sessions, we cherished the moments spent connecting and building with fellow Sorors—continuing the bond of sisterhood that inspires and uplifts us all. #Leadership #Sisterhood #BigXIIConference 💙
