Colorado Summer ‘26 -
Looking back this was an incredibly formative experience for me that I am eternally grateful for. I first just want to say thank you to my amazing friend @bryan_tirone for his hospitality and support throughout this journey. Next, I want to say thank you to @wllangln and @tensionclimbing for giving me the opportunity to collect this wonderful dataset and for welcoming me with such open arms (and thank you @sethisallen for the awesome photos). I know a lot of people don’t read these days but if you take the time to read what follows just know I greatly appreciate you.

The month of July was truly a dream. I got to pursue my dream of researching climbing in a way that hopefully will not diminish the beauty of the art while helping us to understand the complexities of movement practice and the human nervous system. While the work is only getting started, getting to collaborate with and learn from the top of the sport and collect data from the mf goat (thanks big dog @dawoods89) will feed me inspiration throughout the ever evolving process.

This life thing is crazy yo. I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me 5 years ago that I just did this even though it was literally my dream. I am so incredibly grateful to have discovered my passion in life so early on and to have pursued it with such conviction that the universe keeps throwing me bones. Lots of learnings from this trip in regard to my own climbing but also as a human being and a coach and a mentor and a mentee. It is difficult to express the gratitude I feel for this experience yet I will try my best to spread the love and light I gained from it. I’ll probably write some kind of esoteric substack post about this experience eventually but I gotta write some papers first I suppose. Peace & Love 🙏🫶🖕

No frickin way 😳

A few days after the comp in Vail, @miguelmreyes took @gaherwin and me to Guanella Pass. Now, I thought Austin had some cool climbing, but this place was cooler than anything I'd seen in Austin!!

This is a V10 called Crimping Matters, and I sent it on my fifth attempt!! I felt comfortable on those half-pad flat crimps; who would've thought five and a half years of climbing would make you a good climber 🤷‍♂️🙃

A burly problem I might not have gotten through without others coaching me through the beta I forgot 🤦🏻‍♀️ and encouragement 🤗! Not the cleanest send, a lil sloppy, but still a send! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Only had 2.5 climbing days in Colorado— too short!

First day was a strrruuuuggggle hiking up Rocky Mountains to lower chaos w crash pads 🥵 the high altitude definitely smacked me down. Also realized I brought the wrong shoes (my old ones with holes 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Second day I forgot my shoes completely 😅 but thankfully I could wear @__pieceofmoon__ old shoes and sent my first outdoor V4 🙌

Today I was just.. tired. But found some really fun projects 🥳 Thankful for this crew and hype—Hehe, I really wanna come back stronger to send these projects 💪! Bye, Colorado!!

Reflection Eternal, V9. @jayleeclimbs recently introduced me to 8a.nu which is a website where climbers can log their ascents and accumulate points. Its hard to beat the satisfaction of ticking off routes and watching my score/ranking go up.
