Spring break in the Dominican Republic is something I will truly never forget! 🇩🇴♥️

It’s hard to put into words everything this trip meant to me, but it taught me so many life lessons and showed me just how much love and beauty exists in the world.

I am so thankful to Pastor Erasme and his family for welcoming us into their home, sharing their culture, and showing us such kindness and care. Thank you to the entire church community for embracing us with open arms and always being there to help. And to Carlos, our amazing bus driver, for all the laughs and for always being mi caballero, especially when I just needed a Coca-Cola.

I am so grateful for the amazing group of people I went on the trip with. It allowed me to get so close with so many people I didn’t even really know and make true connections.

Most of all, I thank God for putting me in a place where I could meet such amazing people and learn lessons that will stay with me forever. See you soon, mi familia ♥️

Over the past 7 days I had the incredible opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴, and it truly changed my life. I am so grateful that God blessed me with this experience and placed such amazing people in my life throughout this journey.

This week showed me just how much love exists in the world. From the beautiful blue skies, the amazing culture, the fresh food, and the friendly dogs everywhere, every moment felt so special. But what impacted me the most were the people.

The church community welcomed me with so much warmth and made me feel like I truly belonged. I’m so thankful for everyone who took the time to help me with my Spanish and translate so I could connect even more. And a special thank you to Carlos for always being such a true caballero. I also met three incredible kids who quickly became so special to me and will always hold a place in my heart. The kindness, joy, and love I experienced from them is something I will never forget. To the 17 amazing people who experienced this week alongside me, I will forever be grateful for the memories and the impact this trip had on my heart.

I will carry this week with me forever, and I truly hope I get the chance to return one day🤍🇩🇴 Aquí encontré amor, alegría y fe 🤍❤️💙

Dear Dominican Republic,

Thank you so much for showing me how beautiful the world is and all the happiness that exists. I will never be able to express how much of an impact your community had on me. I will forever be grateful.

I am grateful for the children showing me how much joy there can be in the world and helping grow my Spanish-speaking skills. I am grateful for the church community for showing me how much passion and love can exist. I am grateful for the families we met along the way and the kindness they showed me by opening up their homes to all. I am grateful for Carlos who kept us safe on the fast-paced streets. I am grateful for Yonelki’s family for giving us a gorgeous place to stay for the week. And lastly, I am thankful for the group that I had the opportunity to travel with for truly stepping out of your comfort zone and opening up your heart to all those new that we met.

I hope to see you again San Cristóbal. You will forever be missed ❤️🤍💙

Dear Dominican Republic,
I always thought my first time leaving the country would be to sightsee or explore other cultures for my own enjoyment. Instead, I have been blessed with the opportunity to leave the country and be welcomed with open arms into a community that would turn into a family dedicated to serving others. I never thought I could feel such a strong connection with people I’ve only known for a week, yet this entire community holds a special place in my heart after so little time. Not only did I get to experience their culture with homecooked meals, a night of learning dances, and admiring the differences from America, but I also got to positively impact the lives of individuals who need love the most right now. I got to gain perspective and appreciation of my life at home while building such strong relationships with people who are so rich in love despite their hardships. Words cannot describe my love for this country and this community. Most importantly, this trip wouldn’t have been the same had I not gone with the most amazing group of people who I love so dearly and feel so close to now. This past week has been the most beautiful, fulfilling, eye-opening, and heartwarming week of my life. My heart goes out to you, Dominican Republic. Thank you and hasta luego. ❤️🇩🇴
