(waiting is what’s called for, meanwhile) #poem #poetry #friendship #waiting #calm #videopoem #trust

Merry Christmas 🎁 My gift to you is this videopoem of one of my absolute favorites from my newest book (friendship poems) — a reminder to give each other space, time, trust, and care.

Throughout December I have made a videopoem almost every day to celebrate the release of the book, and this feels like a good final entry in the series.

I hope everyone is enjoying time with loved ones or celebrating how they feel comfortable. Merry Merry!

BUY A DIGITAL COPY OF (friendship poems) 😁🔗⤴️🫂 Thank you!

(friendship poems) is my fifth book of poems. If you want, you can purchase a digital copy from the small press I run with two of my friends VOICE LUX PRESS. Google “Joe Nasta (friendship poems) brotherhood” — it would mean the world to me if you got a copy 😁

A novel in verse about love, brotherhood, companionship, and life. Flip to a random poem when you need comfort, a sandwich, an apology, or bit of attention from American poetry’s sweetest troublemaker.

Joe Nasta is vibing in Seattle. He has whispered five books of poetry and a collection of short stories into the world. Ze is an associate editor for Elizabeth Ellen’s Hobart.

I’m so excited to have my story THE WINNER published in @feignlitmag today!

This is incredibly special to me because it’s the first story I wrote in my short story collection, which will be coming out soon. It was the first story set in one of my favorite bars where I spent a lot of time reading, daydreaming, and writing over the year I wrote the book. It’s bittersweet to have it in the world now and reflect on how much has changed since I wrote it, but I see that the story still captures what I want it to — the publication even eerily lines up with other events and changes in my life.

So grateful! Happy to share my story and have a reason to look back at all my photos I have spending time there with my special friends. Stoked to have it published in an incredible magazine. Glad I had a special place to sit in the corner, although I don’t think I’m going back there for a while.

Anyway, sorry for yapping. I hope you read and enjoy the story. Let me know what you think!

What do we need from this? Locking eyes across the room, a small wave. A few minutes of conversation. What if we kissed on the corner? What if we kissed in the street? Denise glided through the cold night crosswalk twenty-four stories below.

The end. We can be what we want. Nobody needs to know. We need nothing. Finally, we were alone again. This was before we realized we couldn’t stand each other.

I read YOUR DREAMS by Thomas Moore in the hot tub at Forest Creek. It’s a chapter about desire, fantasy, and queer community.

This is part 1! The video was too long for Reels so I’m posting the second part on my @jaynasty77 account.
