Cardiff half recap! 🥇

Seeing so many of you choose us for race day is always amazing to us!

We saw so many of you wearing socks, singlets, shorts, hats it's crazy to think this is the 3rd Cardiff half for us since we started this little project, so to see it grow year on year is awesome

1st half marathon race complete 🏃‍♂️‍➡️✅️

Time - 1:39:10 💚

When training for cardiff half, thanks to @danowen.runs he help me run my first ever half marathon distance around aberdare which was hard enough and had rough time of 2 hours and 15 mins. From this time ive wanted to work hard to get the time down!

I did not expect to train for a sub 1.40!

Thank you for everyone who supported me through this tough race which was massive to get me through! I had a cramp in my hamstring from the hill by roath park but still managed to get over the line!

My next big goal which will be the most toughest thing i think ill ever train for in term for mentally and physically......

The london marathon!

Cardiff Half Marathon done! 🏃‍♂️

RING THAT BELL 🔔

I didn’t quite hit my sub-1:40 target, but still had a 1:42:16 finish, which is a new PB and a massive 21 minutes quicker than last year’s time! 🙌

Most importantly, I was proud to run for such a great cause, the British Heart Foundation ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported me, and cheered me on along the way. It genuinely means a lot and helped keep me going when it got tough.

Onwards to the next challenge! 💪🏃‍♂️

ABERDARE PARKRUN 🏃‍♂️

I’m not a runner. I’m certainly not a running athlete. And if you’d told me a few months ago I’d be standing on the start line of a Parkrun, I probably would’ve laughed at you. 😂

But that’s exactly why I wanted to do it.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been getting out running with @theplayyardrct and working with Jordan, who casually knocks out 4 runs a week:

10K
10K
Parkrun
Long run (8-10miles)

So it was always going to hurt! 😂

And Aberdare is no easy Parkrun. That hill THREE TIMES is brutal. Getting to the top, trying to get your breathing back and then finding something mentally to keep pushing takes some serious grit.

But I did it.

And the biggest thing I took from it wasn’t the time.

It was the reminder that your starting point doesn’t determine your finishing point.

You don’t need to be an athlete.
You don’t need to be the strongest.
You don’t need to be the fastest.

You just need to be willing to put the work in.

Good nutrition. Staying active. Building a decent level of fitness. Being consistent. And most importantly, having the mentality to keep going when it gets uncomfortable.

Jordan stuck with me, encouraged me around and helped me keep pushing. The kilometres were pretty even, I didn’t blow up and, surprisingly…

I actually enjoyed it! 😂

Now I’ve got 5 clients preparing for the Cardiff Half Marathon in October.

So September is going to involve plenty more running, plenty of miles and plenty of supporting them through their own journeys.

And maybe that’s the biggest lesson of all…

You don’t have to be where you want to be yet.

You just have to be prepared to start moving towards it.

Keep showing up. Keep putting the work in. And see what you’re capable of. 💪🔥

Great seeing so many clients away on holiday enjoying themselves. ☀️🌴

Aberdare Park Run this morning with @jb.running_ pacing me to a PB🏃

The work is working. 💪
After weeks of consistent base training, today’s parkrun was the test. Previous PB: 22:19. Goal: 22:15. Result: 21:58. First time under 22 minutes. Started well, managed the hills, and emptied the tank to the finish.

The hard working is slowly paying off @callumbarton_coach

⚡️ Speed Session Complete! 🐉

Another fantastic Tuesday night session in the bag! 💪

A huge well done to everyone who came along and put the work in. Speed sessions are never easy, but they’re where the improvements are made. Every rep completed tonight is another step towards those PBs and race-day goals. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

It’s brilliant to see so many Dragons turning up, encouraging each other, and giving it everything. The hard work now will pay off later!
