Introducing the man behind the vision.

Jeff Boughton - a husband, a father, an athlete, a coach, & the founder of @ironwoodathletic.

He’s been Olympic weightlifting, coaching & competing in the Carolinas since 2014. He has his USAW level 2 Olympic weightlifting coaching certification. He started what was formerly Highland Weightlifting in 2023 as the only USAW sanctioned barbell club in western North Carolina. He has also hosted several weightlifting seminars & weightlifting meets in the Asheville area, including the Asheville Small Business Benefit meet that gave 100% of proceeds to small businesses affected by Hurricane Helene.

He is rooted in the Asheville/ Weaverville area and has a passion for building relationships and creating a strong network in the community.

With Ironwood Athletic he envisions growing fitness and athleticism, growing youth development in recreational sports, & growing the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. We’re beyond excited to see where the vision of Ironwood Athletic takes us.

First meet back after nationals and also competing at the new 95kg weight class went pretty well today. A 180kg+ power clean will be mine soon, truuuss. Starting to ramp back up and I’m feeling excited for what’s to come as always!

Summer training summarized 🌞 chasing a one arm handstand, outdoor plyos, slowly easing back to weightlifting- snatch balances are helpful for me to confront fear. Good gyms, good people, riding the waves🌊 #olympicweightlifting #calisthenicstraining #mobilitytraining and a lil swimming while the surf is dead
