Filmed at Selah Carefarm in Northern Arizona, A Sacred Pause takes us inside a sanctuary where people experiencing profound loss are met with compassion, connection, and the space to grieve without expectation.

At its heart, the film is about learning to live alongside grief rather than trying to overcome it. As director Jon Bregel describes it, an invitation to feeling rather than fixing, witnessing rather than rushing, and recognizing that grief and love can exist together.

The film received the Directors’ Choice Award for Best Documentary Short at the 2026 Sedona International Film Festival.

What happens when the ambitions, expectations, or plans we once had no longer fit the season of life we’re actually in?

Join us Friday, October 2 at 12pm ET for a live Nourish podcast recording with filmmaker, therapist, and Nourish coach @saritha.rothermel

Together, we’ll explore the intersection of guilt, grief, and ambition, and what it might look like to acknowledge what has changed, loosen our grip on old expectations, and begin making plans from the reality of our lives today.

Because sometimes moving forward isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about grieving what was, listening to what this season is asking of us, and allowing our ambitions to change alongside us.

Open to Nourish members. RSVP through the community. Join us via the link in bio or visiting TheNourish.Community.

So much of a filmmaking career is shaped by relationships.

The collaborator who recommends you for a project. The friend who introduces you to someone. The mentor who believes in you. The community that reminds you that you’re not doing this alone.

But how do we build those relationships without making them feel transactional?

This month’s **Inner Frame** is an invitation to rethink networking and explore something deeper: trust, generosity, curiosity, and genuine connection.

Together, we’ll reflect on the relationships that have shaped our journeys, and how we might more intentionally invest in the people around us.

**The Inner Frame | Relationships: How Opportunities Actually Happen**

⏰ Monday, September 28 · 3–4pm ET
📍 Virtual, Zoom Link

Open to Nourish members.

Careers are often built project by project.
Lives are built relationship by relationship.

What does making your first feature ask of you, beyond simply making the film?

In Episode #54 of The Nourish Podcast, “The Journey of a Breakthrough First Feature,” writer/director @lizziesarge Sargent joins @jbregel for an honest conversation about making @take_me_home_film, a deeply personal film centered around her sister Anna.

Together, they explore:

• Turning our own lives and relationships into stories
• The emotional realities of making deeply personal work
• Trusting your instincts when traditional ways of working don’t fit
• Building a team that understands and supports how you create
• Learning how you want to lead
• Redefining success after reaching a major creative milestone

Liz also reflects on what ultimately matters most to her as a filmmaker: making honest, human stories that allow people to feel something.

If you’re working toward your own first feature, making deeply personal work, or simply wondering what the next creative breakthrough might ask of you, we hope this conversation gives you something to reflect on.

What are you ambitious for, and has the answer changed as you’ve changed?

In Episode #53 of The Nourish Podcast, director and co-founder of @theartofdocumentary Mark Bone @markandrewbone joins Jon Bregel @jbregel for a conversation about the evolution of ambition throughout a creative career.

Together, they explore:

• When ambition serves us; and when it begins to cost us
• Separating our identity from our work
• Validation, ego, and the pursuit of success
• Knowing when it’s time to let go of an old ambition
• Learning to say no as our priorities change
• Finding meaning beyond what we accomplish

Episode #50: Quiet Authority: Navigating Pressure, People & Growth
w/ Paige DeMarco @dpd24, Producer & Nourish Coach

In this conversation, producer and Nourish coach Paige DeMarco shares what she’s learned after nearly two decades leading productions and teams through high-pressure environments. Rather than leading through urgency, ego, or control, Paige offers a refreshing perspective on building trust, communicating with clarity, and remaining grounded when everything around you feels chaotic.

We discuss:

• How to stay grounded when everyone around you feels overwhelmed
• Why emotional steadiness is one of the most valuable leadership skills
• Navigating difficult personalities without compromising your character
• Building trust through clear communication and healthy boundaries
• Leading from your values rather than fear, ego, or people-pleasing
• Why quiet authority often creates the strongest teams

Whether you’re leading a production or simply growing into the next season of your career, I think you’ll find something meaningful in this conversation.

Episode 49: Introducing The Inner Frame
- Creating a Meaningful Career & Life as a Filmmaker

Over the past four years, the Nourish Community has hosted hundreds of conversations with filmmakers around the world. Although every story has been different, many of the same deeper questions have continued to emerge.

As we stepped back and reflected on those conversations, we realized we’d explored these ideas through hundreds of gatherings, but never had a shared rhythm for returning to them.

That realization became The Inner Frame: a year-long journey of twelve recurring monthly conversations that now serves as the foundation of the Nourish Community.

In this episode, we explore:

• Why four years of conversations led to The Inner Frame
• Why structure matters in a reactive industry
• The difference between building a successful career and a meaningful life
• Why the questions beneath our work often shape us most

If you’ve ever wondered, “Am I on the right path?” or “Who am I becoming through all of this?” I hope you’ll give this one a listen.

You can also experience The Inner Frame with a free 2-week trial of the Nourish Community, including twelve monthly gatherings, weekly live events, and an aligned community of filmmakers building meaningful careers and meaningful lives.
