Imagine a world where wildlife is moving seamlessly across the roads and wetlands are restored to protect us from flooding. This was the spirit and visions we shared at our Nature x Infrastructure, Building for Biodiversity event that kicked off Climate Week NYC. This event brought out a great crowd of fellow wildlife and infrastructure enthusiasts who share stories of wildlife encounters over visuals of ungulate crossings in Wyoming @migrationinitiative reemerging wetlands in Jamaica Bay, New York @jbrpc and whales @mischa_the_bear all against the backdrop of the New York skyline. It was a pleasure meeting all who came out and hope to see you at our next event!

“The Legend of Wiley Post” (wide-format experimental film combining digital footage, hand-drawn animation, 3D animation, Pathé newsreels, and modular video synthesis) premiered recently on the façades of twin airport hangars at Floyd Bennett Field, New York City’s first airport, located on Jamaica Bay at the end of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.

Legendary pilot Wiley Post flew around the world from Floyd Bennett Field in the 1930s, setting world records and inspiring the masses. In our film and a subsequent live performance, the newfangled ensemble, The Wiley Post Dance Band, carries on Wiley’s experimental legacy, bringing his story back to life on the same New York runways where Wiley once flew and landed.

Day 29

It was an extremely hot day, so it was perfect that I headed to the seaside again. This time, my destination was Rockaway Beach. There were a lot of people on the beach and the boardwalk, but the beach is very long. Numerous surfers were in the water, while others were swimming, relaxing, or exercising.

Afterward, I walked back to the bus and saw some great Halloween decorations. Then I traveled to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge—an impressive area with many bird species, a true oasis within New York City.

Tonight’s the night! Me and my friends were invited by @jbrpc to create some work for their Public Arts Festival at Floyd Bennett Field! Consider yourself invited! The activities start at 6pm tonight on the lawn of historic hangars 3 & 4, directly next to The Ryan Visitor Center.

My piece, Flyway, is an animated projection created for Floyd Bennett Field’s historic Hangars 3 and 4,
connecting the dreams of early aviators with the living ecologies of Jamaica Bay. Created and
drawn by Brendan Winick, the work imagines flight as a shared language between human and
bird, memory and present, and features an original score by @apattavina .

Hence why I was closeted for years for asking for others to #helpme when I was struggling various forms of abuse and neglect. Theres more than enough food 🍱 in America 🇺🇸 to end hunger! As @vocalnewyork chants “housing & food is a human right!” And the @whitehouse / @senategop @gop @newyorkgop calls themselves Christian and has the audacity to strip millions of vulnerable Americans like me from eating! 🥣 we are being worked like slaves to die trying to feed our families! I will not suffer for free and pay a high toll for a nation built on my destruction. #feedthedolls

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Come see ‘BIRDS of the WAVES’ Saturday evening *in-person only* at the free @jbrpc Public Arts Festival at Floyd Bennett Field!

I was thrilled to compose the score for this animation by @chloe_pitkoff_art_, which features the tune of the ‘WAVES of the Navy’ march written in 1943 by Elizabeth K. Ender.

I’m excited for you to see Chloe’s art and hear my score — our first collaboration! There will be lots of great art and nice company and community.
