POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I arrived in Atlanta at 18, a fish out of water. The closest I’d come to Black American Southern culture was summers in Miami, and Miami AIN’T Atlanta. 😂

I made best friends here and lost a best friend here. I fell in love and got my heart broken. Men razzled, and I dazzled harder. 😂😏🙃😩🤷🏾‍♀️

Growing up in a Jamaican household, I often navigated two cultures. CAU helped bridge that gap, deepening my understanding of Black American culture while teaching me to embrace the duality of my identity.

Coming home to the Class of 2011 was something I didn’t realize I needed so badly. Every hug felt healing.

After 8 months of being laid off, I started losing a little of my cool and confidence.

But this weekend reminded me that I am greatness, and I am surrounded by greatness.

Standing on sacred Black ground, surrounded by peers doing incredible things, reminded me why HBCUs matter. Where fine-ass Black men and women are setting trends, moving culture, making an impact, and leaving legacies for the next generation.

In a climate where Black people are being pushed out of spaces we helped build, it’s especially important to remember: We don’t just move the culture. We ARE the culture.

Every hug, every laugh, and every reminder of who I was before life started life-ing meant more than you know.

Y’all reminded me that I’m still smart, funny, fly, no-nonsense, and a little particular (SORRY 😭), but always well-intentioned, even when my RBF suggests otherwise.

I was starting to lose myself a little, but y’all helped me find her again. Right at home, on the Yard. 🥹❤️

To my Tri-State Club family: the friendships we built in Atlanta became family. The roster of legends is LONG and HEAVY, and I’m grateful to be among you.

To the @cauicons committee: THANK YOU. The planning, the details, THE VIBES. Y’all did that. No detail went unnoticed.

My heart is full. My cup has been refilled. My confidence has been restored.

Now, one of you legends, PLEASE find me a damn job. We all know I’m expensive, and these Hugo spritzes with champagne aren’t paying for themselves. 😭🥴

@cau1988, I love you. Class of 2011, I love us. ❤️🖤

POV: You found the grown & mature function in ATL. 🎨🥂✨

High Frequency Fridays at the @highmuseumofart ? 10/10. The art, the people, the energy…it felt like the perfect excuse to get dressed, meet in one place, and actually spend quality time together.

Shoutout to my crew for pulling up! My auntie @lreneemia @jbuckk (my college friend that I shared a twin bed with 😂😂), and @armanitremelle (my work bestie). And duh my moma is never far behind me! 🫶🏽 And yes…it was HOT AF in Atlanta. 😭😂 That fan deserved MVP because baby…she was WORKING.

Now I’m leaving with one thought…

Because if Detroit doesn’t have this on a regular basis …I already have ideas. 😏 Hey @mocadetroit @diadetroit @thewrightmuseum …let’s chat. 👀🤝🏽

Detroit deserves more after-hours museum experiences where we can get dressed, mingle, experience art, make new friends, and just be outside in a grown & mature way.

Who’s pulling up if we make this happen? 🎨🥂✨

I shot for @dutch_cigars last week and met the coolest team while creating such fun visuals. I’m so happy to be able to speak on what MOTS - Moral of The Story means to me on this platform and can’t wait to share with everyone.

As I live each day, so does my work visually telling that story. Every place not traveled is a chapter unread and finally starting to turn the pages to tell mine.

When my sister said she wanted to have her bachelorette party in Puerto Rico I said ¡Ay Dios mío, mi billetera! Then I said YOLO (yes millennial here). This past weekend I felt immense love, appreciation and pride for my @alishat_ca and her gorgeous fiance @crystalsimoneee. May your love continue to shine and the amazing trips continue. Can’t wait till France! I love you both ❤️❤️❤️
