Chicago Marathon 2026, my second marathon and my first PR ❤️💙

Signed up for the Chicago Marathon off of the high of NYC last year. This entire training block, I had a lot of doubt as to why I decided to do this again. I have approximately 26 videos from last year telling myself how diabolical a marathon is.

I’m new to racing (only two years in) but I’m finding that each race teaches me something different. So much of why I ran NYC last year was tied to getting back up after the loss of Dora Maar. That I could endure it and that I could quite literally rise from failure. It proved I could get back up.

This year, I ran with the possibility of what could be. What sort of runner I could be if I ran faster, ran harder and risked it all out there on the streets of Chicago.

Thank you to @heartbreak.run for me and @kcwhitaker favorite new life motto “Run hard, risk heartbreak.” I ended up running a 4:24:07, over 37 minutes faster than NYC at 5:01:54, on a red alert heat day(yay PR!!).

Thank you to my friends and my family for flying out to cheer me on and who support me on and off the course @chrissyfierce @mrbsalinas @evanjsmith @kcwhitaker @shmegdon @ficcowessel @jcancro @marissacstahl, to everyone that left an @runwithrally voice note that saved me on the quiet miles, and to all of the serendipitous meetings along the course 😊

And thank you to all who supported and donated to my campaign for @the_abta. This race was in honor of my mom @chrissyfierce , a brain tumor survivor, who has always shown me what it means to put one foot in front of the other, no matter the odds. Together, team ABTA raised over $450,000 to support and fund brain tumor research.

Officially on my year long Thon sabbatical, but stay tuned for where me and my matching running sets turn up next!
