The Ohio Judicial Conference sponsors the Legislative-Judicial Exchange each year and judges get the opportunity to shadow an Ohio State Representative- I was fortunate to be paired with Rep. Jack Daniels from House District 32. Last week my youngest son Jacob was home after graduating from college and I received permission to have Jacob accompany me. We are pictured here with Rep. Daniels and OJC Executive Director (and Ret. Ohio Supreme Court Justice) Pfeiffer in the library of the Ohio Supreme Court- we all enjoyed the bagels and lunch provided by OJC and Jacob and I were introduced at the House Ways and Means Committee session and the House session. Many thanks to the support staff at OJC- especially Marta Mudri who guided us thru the underground labyrinth to the Riffe Bldg and Patrick Holmes at Rep. Daniels office who accompanied us to the sessions. We also got to meet with Rep. Bill Roemer- a longtime family friend. For the most part I can’t involve my family in my work as a domestic relations judge due to confidentiality and this was a great way to share a day and demonstrate how the judicial branch connects and impacts legislation.
Fun fact- Paul Pfeiffer and Jacob’s Aunt Debbie ( 6th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals Senior Status Judge Deborah Cook) sat on the Ohio Supreme Court at the same time. Jacob enjoyed hearing about that connection. It really is a small world!

First pic is 2013 Kenmore Parade - my boys have grown up on the parade circuit and I thank my family, friends co-workers (and their families!) and supporters for their time and effort to volunteer when their only recompense is a glazed donut!

The best 4 years of my life. Wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else. "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard"- Winnie the Pooh #buschlight #skegee #sky #fats

So our youngest son Jacob graduated last weekend and with that our chapter as parents of an Auburn student and asking our boys what classes they’re taking and how’s their grades has also come to a close. We are so proud of Jacob. I’ll admit, he was a hard case to mother, but I always said “he’s a lousy kid but one day he’ll make a great adult.” He fulfilled my prophecy- accepting a job offer prior to graduation, graduating cum laude, moving to Atlanta next month-on his way to being a great adult.
I convinced all the boys to join Kevin and I at the Gulf Shores to extend our graduation celebration for just a few more days. This is why we put in all the hard work folks-for these precious moments.
