🔥 YOU MISSED ONE HELL OF A SESSION! 🔥

If you missed our latest Sawdust Sessions, you’ve got some catching up to do…

What was supposed to be a normal session turned into a record-breaking 2½+ HOURS of proper, unfiltered chat! 🎙️🪚

We sat down with Jaimie Ashley & Ian Courtney from Nailed It Tavi and covered a bit of everything:

🪚 Work & self-employment
📱 Social media & content creation
🏗️ The reality of the trades and where the industry is heading
🧠 Mental health
💷 Customers, business and everything that comes with being self-employed
😂 And, of course, plenty of laughs, banter and completely unfiltered conversation!

No script.
No bullshit.
Just real tradespeople talking about real life.

And somehow… 2½ hours later, we were still going! 😂

🎙️ MISSED IT LIVE? DON’T WORRY… IT’S A REPLAY!

Get yourself a few brews, grab a seat and settle in — because this one is a proper long one.

Sawdust Sessions — All sawdust, no filters. 🪚🔥

🔥 SAWDUST SESSIONS IS BACK… AND ABOUT BLOODY TIME! 🔥

After what feels like an eternity, we’ve finally got two long-awaited guests joining us…

And before I introduce them, I need to clear something up.

If you’ve been wondering why it’s taken so long to get these two on…

It’s not their fault.

They haven’t been cancelling.

They haven’t been avoiding us.

They haven’t been hiding.

That would be me. 😂

I’ve cancelled, delayed, rearranged and generally made a complete bloody meal of getting this session sorted.

So tonight, after countless false starts, we are FINALLY joined by the duo from Nailed It Tavi! 🎙️🔥

Coming all the way from Devon, we’ve got Jaimie Ashley and Ian Courtney.

First up, Jaimie — carpenter, football lover, beard appreciator and Makita fan. ⚽️🪚

A man whose hobbies apparently include anything involving a ball, whose dislikes include customers without money, anything that crawls and… social media begs.

Then we’ve got Ian Courtney — multi-trader, gardener, Emmerdale enthusiast and seemingly the hardest man in Devon to scare.

Spiders?

No problem.

Snakes?

Bring them on.

Ian says he has no phobias whatsoever.

Although strangely enough, he doesn’t seem particularly fond of broke customers, late finishes or social media either. 😂

And then there’s the ultimate life goal:

Jaimie wants to spend more time off the tools.

Ian?

He just wants to retire.

Now THAT is a man with his priorities sorted. 😂

This coming Thursday we’re getting into some proper subjects.

💷 Non-paying customers

📱 The reality of being a content creator

🎭 Clout chasers and social media begs

🪚 The reality of being self-employed

📈 Where the trades are heading

And probably a healthy amount of piss-taking along the way.

So grab yourself a drink, settle in and welcome to Sawdust Sessions…

Jaimie Ashley & Ian Courtney — Nailed It Tavi!

And lads…

Thanks for actually turning up, despite me being the problem. 😂

🪚🔥 Let’s get into it!

Today marks the start of something really special 💚🔨

We’re so proud to be involved in Henry’s Project, helping his family finish their home and create a safe, suitable space for Henry to return to while he continues his treatment.

Henry is just four years old and has been undergoing intensive treatment for Burkitt lymphoma. His family had started building an extension to give their four children more space, but understandably, everything was put on hold when Henry became unwell.

We’re incredibly proud to be playing our part this weekend, alongside a fantastic group of volunteers, businesses and supporters who are all coming together to help get Henry’s extension finished. 🏠🧡

It’s a privilege to be part of something that can make such a difference to a family when they need it most.

Let’s get little Henry home. 💚

🪚 SAWDUST SESSIONS — OUR NEXT GUEST

This week on Sawdust Sessions, we’re joined by Aydan Evans — a joiner and carpenter from Glossop, Derbyshire.

Aydan’s journey into the trade has taken him far beyond the workshop. He spent nearly eight years travelling the world, before bringing that experience back home and building his own business around the things he loves — timber, craftsmanship, good food, football and, of course, a good adventure.

He’s now pushing the business into its next chapter. His first workshop has just been built, he’s getting more involved in full home renovations, and the aim is simple: keep growing, keep learning and keep pushing towards the next step.

There’s also timber framing, plenty of stories from life on the road… and apparently there’s a story involving being out in the middle of the sea. 🌊

So join us as we get to know the person behind the tools, the business and the journey.

🎙️ MISSED THE LIVE? HERE’S WHAT YOU MISSED…

Our latest Sawdust Sessions guest was the one and only Glen Flurry 🛠️

A maker from Dudley, West Midlands, Glen is a man of many interests — from collecting tools and trainers, to railways and owning his own locomotive! 🚂

We got into his journey as a maker, his love of tools, the projects he’s been involved with, his passion for creating special projects for schools and young people, and plenty of stories along the way.

And of course, we couldn’t let him escape without talking about the Festool & Friends punt — the rather unusual boat-building adventure and Glen’s connection to the whole project. 🚤

There was plenty of chat, plenty of laughs, some serious tool talk and a good insight into the man behind the maker.

If you missed the live, grab yourself a brew and give it a watch.

And if you were there live… you already know. 👊

🚨 NEXT UP ON SAWDUST SESSIONS 🚨

This one’s going to be a good one… 😎

🎙️ Glen Flurry
🛠️ Maker | 📍 Dudley, West Midlands

Glen is a proper all-round character — a maker by trade, a serious tool shopper/collector, trainer collector, railway enthusiast AND proud owner of his very own loco! 🚂😂

Throw in a love of hot curries 🌶️, real ale 🍺, Red Bull, shopping (apparently LOTS of shopping 😂) and a musical taste that can jump from The Prodigy to ELO, Madness to Queen, Bon Jovi to Take That, Drum & Bass to Garage and Dancehall… and you already know this conversation could go absolutely anywhere!

But behind all the laughs and interests, Glen’s got some brilliant goals — staying fit and healthy, looking after his family, and creating more special projects that inspire and engage schools and young people. 👊

We’ll be getting into the making, the tools, the projects, the stories, the passions… and probably a few things completely unrelated to making too! 😂

And Glen… we promise we won’t ask you for directions in a foreign language. Your phone can handle that. 😉📱

All sawdust. No filters. Honest conversations.

📢 A Quick Sawdust Sessions Update

Unfortunately, due to a number of industry events and commitments that have landed back-to-back over the coming weeks, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to postpone the next 2–3 Sawdust Sessions.

The dates of these events are completely outside of our control, and rather than delivering rushed episodes or asking guests to constantly rearrange, we’d rather hit pause briefly and return with the quality and consistency you deserve.

The break won’t be for long, and we’ve already got some fantastic guests lined up ready to go.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support. We’ll be back before you know it with more honest conversations, great guests, and everything that makes Sawdust Sessions what it is. 👊🪵🎙️

To the guests that were lined up, @red_design_and_build_ltd is extremely apologetic 🙏🏽 he will be in contact to reschedule.
