The Artists Behind VIMF 2026: Why I’m Excited About Every Single One

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you already know I have opinions about music.

A lot of them.

So when I was given the opportunity to help build and curate the VIMF 2026 lineup, I approached it the same way I approach everything else: with equal parts passion, instinct, and an unhealthy amount of time spent listening to artists.

The result is a lineup I’m genuinely proud of.

From high school students getting their first big break to artists who have spent years carving out their place in the Canadian music scene, every name on this poster earned its spot.

This isn’t just a festival lineup to me. It’s a collection of artists I believe in.

This year you’ll see NoNsEnSe, Logan Levi, Graham Bedard, Sticks n’ Stones, Em Armstrong, Full Throttle, Bleeker, BRKN LOVE, Jacklyn Wills, Jake Henley, Jade Hilton, Ryan Langdon, and Myles Erlick take the VIMF stage.

Some are getting their first major festival opportunity. Some have spent years building their careers one show at a time. Every one of them earned their place here.

VIMF turns five this year, and we’re celebrating with two nights of incredible live music, great food, community activations, and one unforgettable weekend.

Most importantly? It’s completely free.

To the man who shaped my taste in music before I even knew music would become such a huge part of my life.

The guy who introduced me to bands, took me to concerts, and taught me that songs aren’t just something you listen to. They’re something you feel.

I’ll never forget the endless shows, the late-night drives, and that one ride home from Warped Tour in Barrie when we listened to “Paper Wings” by Rise Against on repeat for what felt like the entire trip.

One song.

Over and over.

Because apparently we weren’t done listening to it yet.

And of course, the mayhem from the Honey Pot show in high school. If you know, you know.

We must have seen Rock of Ages and We Will Rock You a dozen times each. Somehow they never got old.

You had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories that somehow never left.

Today would have been your birthday.

And while the years keep moving forward, some things never change.

I still hear songs and think of you.

I still catch myself wanting to tell you about a new band I discovered, a great show I saw, or a milestone I reached.

And I still wish I had one more concert, one more car ride, and one more hug I never got to give.

A piece of me left with you, and there are still days when I’m figuring out how to be me without my brother beside me.

I hope there’s a stage up there somewhere.

I hope the music is loud.

I hope you’re surrounded by the people you love.

And I hope you know that every interview, every article, every concert, every artist I champion, and every stage I help create carries a little bit of you with it.

Without you, there is no music degree. No music career. No Marina After Midnight. More of my story started with you than you’ll ever know.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, John.

Love ya forever, your sister Meena. 🩷🤘
