Building this boutique creative space for women to explore sports photography, push their creative boundaries, and grow in confidence has brought me more joy than I can express.

Behind the scenes, bringing this weekend to life means weeks of work, countless spreadsheets, and more than a few sleepless nights. But every bit of it is worth it.

This year, we celebrated a milestone: YEAR FIVE! 🎉

From Vancouver to Nova Scotia, women have joined us from coast to coast. What began as a creative workshop has grown into a community that continues to strengthen, inspire, and support one another with every passing year.

And this year? Our coveted spots sold out in under two hours! 🤯💜

It’s been a year since we first saw Embers on a big screen. Each and every time we do, we feel immense gratitude for the creative friends who came out to shoot with us. The ones who crossed rivers and ski toured with fully-loaded packs in -15, without any guarantee that rigging was possible.

We made something beautiful and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible cast and crew!

Temple in all its glory

Spent the night under the stars. Wind howling by morning. Blue turned to pink turned to gold. For a little while there was nowhere else to be. Just us and the peaks as far as the eye could see.

In early August, the internet was in disbelief at the ridiculousness of Canada’s lake names. We sent our creators out to do some very important investigative journalism to prove the cynics wrong.

Fun fact: In Newfoundland, they call most bodies of freshwater ponds!

This was 36 ✨ A year of adventures with loved ones. Making films with friends. Exploring faraway places and our own backyard. Playing for the Philippines one more time. Paddling out, roping up, and flying (fuelled by Cev’s or panne au chocolat). Winning the Saratoga cup! And honouring my family’s story in the best way I know how.

Between these milestones, it was a year spent quietly dreaming and putting in the work. Embracing small shifts in perspective. Deepening friendships. Feeling genuine awe and gratitude for all that’s unfolding.

This post is coming late because I spent my birthday weekend on the Sunshine Coast with my family. My mom took us on a hike (!!) to see the Skookumchuck Narrows, a place where flowing water changes direction with the tides. The point at which a tide changes directions is called slack tide, and I get the sense that this birthday represents something like that in my life.

Hugs to everyone who made being 36 so wonderful. 😌
