Introducing Tunnel Vision: Volume 001 made in collaboration with @jdogcollages 🗞️ In our first volume, we’re exploring The Tunnel (NYC, 1986 - 2001) and its impact on club culture & hip hop.

J Dog absolutely killed the visuals and construction of this zine, and we can’t wait to share it with you this Saturday.

“You can’t talk about The Tunnel without talking about Mecca. In 1993, party promoter Jessica Rosenblum and budding DJ/rapper Funkmaster Flex approached Peter Gatien with the idea of taking over Sunday nights at The Tunnel with a weekly hip-hop party by the name of Mecca.

Sunday nights are traditionally slow for clubs, so Gatien agreed – even though the genre was far from mainstream at the time. As it turned out, this hip-hop thing would become popular. The line to enter extended all the way down the block, with some paying as much as $1000 to get in the door after being turned away.”

An excerpt from our upcoming zine in collaboration with @jdogcollages, Tunnel Vision: Vol. #001. The zine features JDog’s amazing (!!) visual talents and explores some of the most interesting facets of The Tunnel, including the legendary Mecca nights.

Copies of the first edition of Tunnel Vision will be available exclusively at The Bends, this Saturday 05/09. Meet us there ⋆｡°✩
