“Drunk in poetry and light.” One guest messaged me she left feeling that way last night. That summed up the night for me too. More than 85 people gathered, and 28 shared their poetry. Some braved two hours in traffic to be there. Several celebrated a year since they first found us. And still, the evening felt intimate. Michael Gaspari gave Under a Haunted Moon its sound on the keys. Featured poet, Manny Saints went beyond the assignment and brought a set that felt made for the evening. Thank you to everyone who shared a poem, listened closely, or came on their own to see what this was all about. And to Emily’s Garden for giving us a home. THE BLAZING AND THE DARK ...................................................... K. C. Das .............. Beguiled, here, by the blazing, I have eyed over the dark, That looks dense and amazing, All of them come here and lurk. They are rusted desires, They're those never ending dreams, That always breathe like a curse ! My hurt heart seeks them and screams. Like those loose petals that fly, Lost dreams visit me and go, My moments are quick and sly, To failures I'm forced to bow. The flower before it falls, All its sweet fragrance it spreads, With heavy feet though wind strolls, It never the flower dreads. Like all dry leaves fell my dreams, In the witching hour they sing, With moonlight caress earth beams, My failures for me tears bring. Poem in Caption Moonlit caress, Awakens a deep ache of feeling loved, The true sense of belonging, Brought forth through thy touch, The tender moonbeams wiping clean the deep creases of worry lining her brow, Even in her sleep, She looks deeply troubled, The moon gazes at her for a while, What does he see? A soul who held it all together for long, Always having her smile in place, Like the favoured veil worn to adorn the being, The carcass of pain camouflaged beneath, The gossamer veil of tenderness, But the heart grew tired, How long lass? I long to be held restricted, I want to bellow to all loud and clear, She shushed her heart once again, Feigning patience, The moon had always been her confidante, That sparkle the moon caught, Once in a while, Returned back to honour the pensive moment, Sometimes she stood by the window, Listening to the song of the wind, The leaves falling all over, To leave a lush carpet for her tread at dawn, As she walked in the woods, To heal her broken bits, She loved the fall, The russet shades of the leaves, The maple hues of autumn, The burnt orange flowers in the woods, All taught her that the “ Fallen” always rise again, It’s never too late! First and foremost, I’d like to apologize for the delay. September has been challenging, so much so, a word came up we never want to hear. Went out and bought a Taylor guitar!! Ever hear a cat scream? 🐈😽Music is good for the soul and so is singing and writing!🙌🏼🥰🎶🎸🩷🌸 My daughter asked me not to sing publicly🤦‍♀️🎤 @kuku4.haiku It is with great pleasure we announce the wonderful Senryu Winners and Honorable Writers. We asked you to go dark, clever, deep and poke fun at any human foibles, flaws, as well as applying that clever dark humor to this haiku family’s sleeping beauty!
