Children in 1983 were asked to predict the year 2026. I was one of those children. I’ve always been a big believer of collectibles and fast food.

73% annualized returns on a Pikachu Illustrator. 51% on an early Super Mario Bros. That helps explain why four of the biggest names in collectibles just joined the same advisory board.

I’ve sat across the table from two of them and known the other two through the collectibles world for years. So when Ken Goldin, Jeremy Padawer, Jim Halperin and Steve Ivy all sign on as advisors to the same company, that gets my attention.

They’re advising Treasure Trove, the company AJ Scaramucci built around the idea of a “Cultural Store of Value” — acquiring and holding grail-level collectibles while applying the kind of underwriting, discipline and long-term thinking normally associated with other alternative investments.

Scaramucci calls the group the “Avengers of the collectibles world.” It’s hard to argue with the description.

Treasure Trove says its PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator has generated a 73% IRR since its first recorded sale in 2015, while a comparable early Super Mario Bros. transaction implies a 51% IRR since 2019.

Their holdings already include:
• PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator — approximately $16.5M
• Tales of Suspense #39, the first appearance of Iron Man — $2M
• Early sealed Super Mario Bros. — approximately $3M
• Joe Montana’s Super Bowl XXIV jersey — approximately $1.5M

But what may be even more valuable than the capital is the knowledge and relationships sitting at that table.

At the highest levels of collecting, knowing what exists is only half the equation. Knowing where it is, who owns it and how to start that conversation can matter just as much.

Collectibles will always start with passion. That’s what makes this business special.

But the infrastructure around that passion keeps getting more sophisticated — and this is another significant step in that evolution.

Very interested to see where Treasure Trove takes this.
