Trail assessment days are some of our favorite days—getting out into the woods with partners and friends, and looking at what’s possible.

We recently joined Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA) and Windham County Trails Alliance at Oak Hill, located at the Rockingham Rec Center in Bellows Falls, to assess opportunities for adaptive mountain biking.

Oak Hill’s technical, hand-built singletrack has real potential for adaptive riders. With recommended upgrades to address off-camber sections—and a new adaptive-friendly loop planned for the area—Oak Hill could become an important new aMTB option in southern Vermont.

The work being done goes well beyond a single trail network. Each time we assess trails and local trail organizations make the recommended improvements, the map of places Vermont Adaptive participants can ride grows. That means more trail options across Vermont for our mountain bike program, more trail variety, and more opportunities for people to ride in their own communities.

We’re grateful to VMBA and Windham County Trails Alliance for their partnership in doing this work. More trails, more choices, and more opportunities to ride together.

And it’s a wrap! 23 adaptive mountain bikers joined our two day collaborative camp this year and it was a BLAST! We lapped Flo at Cady Hill in Stowe Saturday all day, and rode at the Driving Range in Bolton on Sunday. WOW! Many more posts to come, but here is a glimpse at a few of the riders on Saturday. Thanks @instamikeagram for the group shot, and to our volunteers and ALL involved in the success if this annual event. Grateful!

Part 1. There was 200 participants. It was an amazing, fun competition. But what impressed me the most were sit skiers. A well-deserved standing ovation 👏

Such an incredible and fun event. But what truly blew me away were the mono ski athletes. I can’t put into words how much I admire you and your courage! 😍

The Stowe Pond Skim and Spring Bash was a total blast this weekend! The GMAS team came out in full force, hosting a breakfast, selling raffle tickets, and even plunging in the freezing cold water! Board member John Chudzik going face first on his cross country skis was a crowd pleaser… but monoskiers Mike Olsen and Julio Cecenas supported by Beau Galloway stole the show, closely followed by Nechie Fischman hitching a ride on the patrol’s snowmobile!
Many thanks to ALL who made this possible and such a great success — and to our friends at @stowemt!

We can’t wait to be back next year!

Photos and videos by Cathy Webster, Amy Marshall, Pascale Savard and Kim Bean. More to come!
