This post and journal contain spoilers for Bleeding Hearts 8, Absolute Superman 24, The Deadman 5, and Only the Savage Are Left 4.
Bleeding Hearts is your favorite comic book writer’s favorite comic book. When I was 14 I thought everyone should listen to My Chemical Romance. I thought emo was for everyone. I was right. I’m also right about this, Bleeding Hearts is for everyone.
Absolute Superman is a generational book. It just so happens that WW, Batman, and Martian Manhunter have impossibly good books at the same time and it’s hard to stand out. It stands every bit as strong as the others.
The Deadman is the most fun book I have on my pull list, I need to give it more flowers for that. It’s also the only mainline DC book I’m buying physical copies of monthly. It’s that good!
Only the Savage had a penultimate(?) issue ending with a BANG! I love the philosophical conundrum of an apocalyptic story like this, I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Empathy is the ultimate superpower. What an issue. 🤝🩸

Absolute Superman No. 17 delivered a massive, terrifying conclusion to the Parasite crisis.

Writer Jason Aaron @jasonaaron pulls no punches here, introducing a terrifyingly depraved, body-horror version of Parasite weaponized by Brainiac, while a simple family-man version of Lex Luthor suffers an absolutely devastating psychological attack.

Pitting Clark’s unyielding moral compass against Hawkman’s lethal tactics was incredible, but the psychological horror Brainiac brings to Lex Luthor’s doorstep completely stole the show. Juan Ferreyra’s @jeferreyra guest art fits the dark, twisted tone of this script perfectly.

Now that my Absolute Batman 23 covers are all in(i believe). l figured I’d put the whole group together. I know it’s easy to look at this and just say “Damn, that’s a lot of copies of the same story” and you wouldn’t be wrong but I also see something else. To me, this is a perfect example of how much more appreciated artists are and how variants have helped put them at the forefront. What a time to be a collector, we are getting BANGERS. So yeah, I know this picture can be interpreted differently depending on who you ask. Me? I see great works of art attached to a great story.

🐢TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Vol.2
NYC vs. TMNT

di @jasonaaron e @jeferreyra
ed. @panini_comics
