DLG is so happy to share that we were able to purchase school uniforms for over 150 students at the Bukangara Child Care Nursery & Primary School in Kasese, Uganda! Our team was welcomed into the school several years ago and after spending time in the classrooms we noticed many orphaned students did not have the standard uniform on. When children attend school they should focus on learning and working hard, and should not feel out of place due to the clothes. Swipe to see more 👚👖

During the recent visit to our school Signal, the DLG team shared with our community the urgent need for saving mother earth from waste.
Signal School Arts and Waste management clubs committed to making a waste management mural at school in a call for mindset change on waste.

Although the DLG's major material was fabrics, our major material has been Plastic bottles which are common Wastes in our school community. We are so grateful that our young creators spearheaded the mural excursion.

We are thankful to PAF, GLPC, Scouts, Rotarians, Nick Bell (PHF) and all Environmental Conservationists all over the world for inspiring us always.

It's indeed everyone's responsibility to make the world free from waste.

Our students at @peaceadvocatesfoundation_ wearing dresses covered in drawings from the local primary school! These garments were made in Miami, Florida and modeled during the Design Lab Miami fashion show. The DLG team brought them to Uganda to show our students the final results of their artwork 🎨 The girls are also wearing the new bags they created with @designlabmia using fabric waste! 🧵🪡

After going to a few local shops in Kasese, Uganda to buy supplies for our workshops, the DLG team met an inspiring woman, Emaculate who is a leader in the community, successful business owner, mother and has persevered through many hardships to get where she is today. The following day we brought My Girl Tribe group into town so that they could meet with her and hear her story as they too are trying to become the strongest and most successful versions of themselves. As My Girl Tribe says, “marriage and babies can wait.” Emaculate shared parts of her life journey that she has never told anyone before about growing up in a rural area, trying to make a better life for herself and moving up in her career while combating the men in her community. She told each girl that she too can be successful and dream big as long as she loves herself, works hard and takes care of who she is. #sparkcreativity

Music is a component of human life. It adds value to life mostly when played at the right time, in the right place and for the right people.
At Signal School, Leader Seez, one of our community trending vocal Artists has allowed Signal School pupils to mimic one of his trending songs titled, "E TOWN ni MAGEZI" literary meaning, Town is about Knowledge / creativity.

In this song, the melodic Artist encourages the need for high levels of creativity and knowledge to survive in the modern trends of life other than the theoretical/document based knowledge.

It is indeed our responsibility as educational promoters to train practical/ hands on knowledge right from infantry stages just the way, Signal Arts School is currently doing.
The mimicked video will be coming soon.

During our @designlabgive workshops in Uganda we invited a local artist and teacher to come to the Peace Advocates Foundation and share her weaving skills. It is crucial for DLG to involve the local community in our time in Uganda. We want to help to spread the traditional crafts of the culture and amplify the work of talented Uganda artists. What an exciting day of learning! #sparkcreativity
