Voice Portraits, my first solo exhibition, opens October 30 at Manhattan’s Klaus Von Nichtssagend gallery. The exhibit presents four audio sculptures that communicate human presence without facial imagery. My first subjects are powerful beings bound by their shared practice of Poetry—Penny Arcade, Kyle Dacuyan, Wayne Koestenbaum, and Pamela Sneed. Their voices stand out not just for what they say, but also for how their words resonate coming from their bodies. Each work is an eight-channel audio installation and visualization of the harmonic series, made with voice as the material—reciting, singing, improvising, and talking. I’ll unveil a new portrait each week as a public listening event. The audio program will loop during gallery hours and extend with the addition of each new portrait.
