📷via @jeffonsports #clippers #okc #nbapl #draft

Recent dynasties: Spurs The Spurs are interesting because they are a case of a team being dominant for 10+ years with multiple different iterations of the team. Started in Tim Duncan’s rookie year when he won the finals with a walking legend, David Robinson, in 1999. TD and David Robinson carried this team. They didn’t win again until 2003 when they had more familiar faces on the team. Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Steve Kerr, and Stephen Jackson. Similar to the Giants’ dynasty, they dominated for 6 years; every other year after 2002-03, they won a championship. After the two championships after 2003 in 2005 and 2007, the Spurs would continue to make the playoffs and be a very, very good team, but not be able to get over that hump they had done repeatedly. The Spurs were the one seed multiple times after their dynasty, looking to reclaim the title, only to lose to the eighth seed in the first round. Once to the Mavericks and once to the Grizzlies. One person can be credited with making the Spurs dynasty relevant in the 2010s, and that man is one of the most underrated players of all time. His name is Kawahi Leonard. Kawahi gave LeBron problems, won Finals MVP, put the Spurs back on the map, and showed people that this dynasty should never be forgotten. Is this a more iconic dynasty the San Fran Giants or the Spurs Dynasty #basketball #nba #sports #ballislife #football #basket #instagood #lebronjames #espn #nike #bball #lakers #basketballneverstops #instagram #nbabasketball #baseball #basketballislife #jordan #soccer #lebron #sports #basketballtraining #nbaplayoffs #basketballplayer #nfl #fitness #kobe #explorepage #fyp #nbafinals

Orlando Woolridge: The scoring machine was only stopped by no minutes. Orlando was the 6th pick in the 1981 draft, not getting a consistent role on the team until ‘83. From ‘83 to ‘86, Woolridge was one of the Bulls’ best scorers, consistently improving from 16 PPG to 22 PPG year by year. The Bulls did not need scoring, as they had Michael Jordan averaging 30 a game. They needed defense and playmaking. Woolridge was very inconsistent at dishing the rock, so they let Woolridge walk to the Nets and drafted someone with the last name Pippen. Woolridge played parts of two seasons with the Nets, playing 94 games, averaging 18 points, and shooting barely above the 45% mark. Woolridge then spent another two seasons with the Lakers, who never gave him consistent minutes as he came off the bench, only starting two games for them. Woolridge then went to Denver and became one of the best forwards in the league, despite needing to take on most of the offense. Woolridge averaged 25 points, seven boards, and two dimes a game, all on 50% shooting. Pretty impressive, not an all-star, no all-NBA or MVP conversations, the lightest 25 PPG you will ever see. After the season with Denver, Orlando never really recaptured that fire. After that, he never averaged more than 12 PPG. There are many basketball players like this: gone but NEVER FORGOTTEN. RIP, Orlando Woolridge. You were a great player and definitely a better man. #basketball #nba #sports #ballislife #football #basket #instagood #lebronjames #espn #nike #bball #lakers #basketballneverstops #instagram #nbabasketball #baseball #basketballislife #jordan #soccer #lebron #sports #basketballtraining #nbaplayoffs #basketballplayer #nfl #fitness #kobe #explorepage #fyp #nbafinals

Kevin Johnson: one of the most underrated PG’s ever. Johnson came into the league with the Cavs’ 7th pick in the first round, but he was traded in his rookie year because the Cavs’ best player was star PG Mark Price. Johnson arrived in Phoenix in ‘88 and became one of the best PGs in the league in ‘89, averaging 20 and 12. He won the Most Improved Player award, earned all NBA 2nd team honors, and was 8th in MVP voting. He led the Suns to the second seed and was swept in the WCF by the Lakers. ‘90 was more of the same, averaging 22 and 11 once again, leading the Suns to 50+ wins, but once again lost to the Blazers in the WCF this time. Johnson earned an All-Star nod and the All-NBA second team that season. ‘91 Johnson was still carrying the Suns, averaging 22 and 10, shooting 52% from the field, and leading them to once again 50+ wins. Finishing 7th in MVP voting and all NBA second team honors. Kevin Johnson’s final year with the team was ‘92, as Charles Barkley arrived in ‘93. Johnson averaged 19 and 11 points, earned all-NBA third-team honors, and was 15th in MVP voting. 93’ he only played 49 games, the Suns still won 60+ games because Charles Barkley is very good. ‘94, Johnson became healthy, and the duo of Barkley and Johnson took over. He earned his final All-Star nod and All-NBA team selection. Sadly, losing to the Rockets in 7 games in the WCF. After the ‘94 season, Johnson would only play over 60 games once more in his career in ‘97, when he, of course, was great. He retired due to injuries at 32 years old. He was dominating the league as soon as he came in, and injuries cut him short during his prime. He is now the mayor of Sacramento, living it up. Hopefully, he’s not a republican. #basketball #nba #sports #ballislife #football #basket #sport #lebronjames #espn #nike #bball #lakers #basketballneverstops #hoops #nbabasketball #baseball #basketballislife #jordan #soccer #lebron #sports #basketballtraining #nbaplayoffs #basketballplayer #nfl #fitness #kobe #explorepage #fyp #nbafinals

Mark Price: Price came into the league with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ first pick of the second round. He played 60+ games in his rookie year, but didn’t start one. Maybe that’s why the Cavs were 20 games under .500 that season. Once Price started, the Cavs became a competitive basketball team. Price averaged 16 and 6, leading the Cavs to the playoffs before averaging 21 a game and taking the young MJ and Pippen-led Bulls to 5 games. Year 3 Price took a jump, becoming a better playmaker and a more polished scorer. He averaged 19 and 8 on his way to the top ten in MVP voting and the all-NBA third team. He led the Cavs to 54 wins but again got matched up with the Bulls in the first round and lost. ‘90 and ‘91 were lost years, as the Cavs went 42-40, losing in the first round to the 76ers, and 33-49, respectively. Mark played well, averaging 16 and 10 in ‘91. The next three seasons, Mark Price was on a mission. Averaging 17 and 7 in ‘92, leading the Cavs to 57-25, finishing 7th in MVP voting, and earning all NBA third team honors. You will never guess who they lost to in the easter conference finals: Michael Jordan and the Bulls. 93’ was Price’s best season to date. Leading the Cavs to 54-28, averaging 18 and 8 while shooting 41% from three, earning All-NBA first team honors, and 8th in MVP voting. You wouldn’t be able to guess who they lost to in the second round if ur life depended on it(swept this time). 94’ was more of the same, but it was the last great season of Mark Price’s prime. He averaged 17 and 8, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three, earning all NBA third-team honors and 9th in MVP voting. You will never be able to figure out who he lost to in the first round this year(swept again). Price led the Cavs to the playoffs one last time in ‘95, losing to the Knicks in four games. Price then dealt with back injuries while bouncing around the league, all while only 30 years old, before retiring at 33. Price is one of two players to have 4+ all NBA selections but not be in the hall of fame. A phenomenal career that was just like everyone else’s in the ‘90s, overshadowed by Jordan. Jordan stopped all but two of prices playoff runs.
