About last night…

It was a room full of innovators, activators, founders, and builders.

I’ve always loved @pipelineentrepreneurs because they understand that building great companies starts with investing in the people building them.

The balance sheet matters. The founder does, too.

Too many organizations focus exclusively on the business. Pipeline recognizes that resilience, relationships, perspective, and community are every bit as important to long-term success.

And you can feel that in the rooms they curate.

The conversations weren’t dominated by valuations, exits, or who raised what. They were about challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned, together.

Community gets talked about so often that the word starts to lose meaning. Last night, it was tangible.

A whole lot of people doing the hard, messy work of building things and helping each other do it a little better.

It was a really great party.

I don’t know, a lot of fun things happened at the MidxMidwest Starty Party this evening.

@thegcband was phenomenal.

So was the audience.

Alexa has been working on a lil’ something and in startup parlance, well, she’s ready to launch. We (but especially Jill and Jeff) are all very excited. 🤩

@tobiasrush is (of course) working on something techy that I only vaguely understand. @west.james gets a little nervous when you slow-motion-run-hug at him. I don’t know if @conceptsguy does or not; I didn’t have enough runway to try.

Seeing @antoinetteredmond_ after months apart was like a breath of fresh air but pleaseneverdothattousagainmaam. @emilybrownspeaks and @dr_younggiftedblack continue to inspire.

Rachel and I booped the rose and this felt really meaningful and silly in the moment and we acknowledged that we’re total dorks, which is really the essence of taking a walk with @claracultivates. Or doing anything, which is perhaps why we get along so well.

So all that to say, it was a good night. Whenever these startupy, entrepreneurial, gritty, brilliant people come together for good tunes and great vibes, I walk away feeling like home. (The light up sunglasses were just a bonus.)
