Behind the scenes of the WANTED key art photo shoot

This was really fun day on set. The day was divided into two parts: for the first half of the day, @oliver_rosser would be photographing the key art for the upcoming Broadway production of @wantedmusical with me capturing behind the scenes photos. Then, for the second half of the day, I would be creating the editorial photo collection of Solea and Liisi in modern day attire. It was a long day but also an opportunity to showcase two core pillars of my creative practice: the observer and also the crafter.

Thank you so much to RPM @alybirdy and @jeffschulzcreative for the call, Oliver for the brilliant, @_solaylay and @liisilafontaine for their energy, grace, and talent, and to all of the other artists in this room for making the day so creatively rejuvenating.

/// NEW PRODUCT AVAILABLE IN OUR STORE /// LINK IN OUR BIO ///

In the Harm to Ongoing Matter T-shirt, the black box becomes a visible accusation. Drawn from the redacted pages of the Mueller Report and sharpened by the sustained concealment of the full Epstein files, it isolates redaction as the protection of power. Harm to Ongoing Matter refuses euphemism. The harm is continuing. The matter is ongoing. What is protected are the structures and individuals who continue to produce it.

Incredibly proud to release “Chelsea Summer Nights (Acoustic)” my very special, intimate song today!💜I wrote, recorded, produced this song passionately in my NYC home years ago- a deeply personal, poetic version of haunting acoustic guitar + heartfelt vocals. I’d appreciate if you’d listen- Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube. If inspired, I’d love if you’d please add it to your playlists, and share it with friends + family. Link to listen in bio. Thank you + hope you enjoy your listening experience💫🪽

Chelsea Summer Nights Words & Music by Sheri Miller

I’ll meet you down in New York City
By the ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel
We’ll take a room filled with secrets
The kinds of secrets the river won’t tell

Lay with me, rock ‘n roll beauty
Sing to me of Bobby McGee
Touch me like there is redemption
The more pleasure, the more we are free

There are no promises at night
But there’s eternity within your light

Time marches on
But the secrets of our youth
Hold me captive
How I once loved you
Time marches on
But you are my truth
Chelsea Summer Nights
I’m not afraid to die

Meet me down in the West Village
We’ll pretend we’re tourists again
Pretend we’re in love, my darling
Glimpse the way we were back then

I hailed you like a yellow taxi
Take me home to the Chelsea Hotel
I paid dearly for that fare
I paid with my soul, my heart laid bare

CHORUS

You said we are the fortunate few
Who have the gift of words set to
Songs of hallelujah-lu
We’re baby birds cracking through
The shells of our ego
Your heart is my halo
You sing like an angel

CHORUS

WAR SHROUDS
2024
Mixed Media (re-appropriated baby blankets)
Approx. 19” x 32” each (standard size of an infant body bag)
Ongoing series, 24 works

War Shrouds is an ongoing textile series that transforms found crocheted baby blankets into infant-sized body bags. The intervention is deliberately restrained: a zipper and four carrying handles are added while the original textile remains intact. Rabbits, flowers, decorative borders, pastel colors, and the softness of the crochet survive the transformation. Each work measures approximately 19 × 32 inches, the standard dimensions of an infant body bag. The correspondence is not metaphorical. Blanket and body bag are already organized around the dimensions of the same body. One is made to receive, warm, and protect an infant; the other to contain and transport that body after death.

The blanket emerges from a history of feminized domestic labor, its repetitive construction accumulating time into an object of care. The body bag belongs to another material order: standardized, institutional, and designed to manage the dead. War Shrouds collapses these structures into a single object, exposing a material logic of war: organized violence produces not only destruction but an infrastructure for managing what it destroys. The labor of care is made to carry the consequences of militarized power.

Installed as a field, the work moves from the singular to the systemic. Repetition begins to resemble inventory: the dimensions of one body repeated, standardized, and accommodated at scale. War, often apprehended at a distance through territory, nationalism, military power, and spectacle, is returned here to the body. What begins with the dimensions of a single infant becomes the measure of a system built to receive that body again and again.
