Sunny, mild Monday in Madrid today—spring vibes with clear skies, highs 18-19°C (64-66°F) and a light breeze. Perfect for opening windows and good music. We've added fresh tracks to Weekend Radio Station: smooth jazz with soul, relaxed grooves and soulful touches for this bright day.
This week we highlight these:

𝗝𝗲𝗳𝗳 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 – 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 → Seductive sax with mysterious club vibe—closes your eyes and pulls you in.
𝗟𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗸 – 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁. 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 → Smooth rhythm inviting gentle movement, boosted by soulful feature energy.
𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘆 – 𝗞.𝗝.'𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝘁. 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗱 → Clean joyful trumpet + James Lloyd keys—soft catchy bop radiating good vibes.
𝗬𝘂𝗸𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶 – 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼 → Elegant spiritual piano. Introspective, beautiful for calm sunshine reflection.
𝗔𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘆 – 𝗜 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 → Upbeat positive groove lifting your mood instantly—ideal for sunny days.
𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝘀𝗼𝗻 – 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 → Precise elegant flow, subtle groove—plenty of flavor, perfectly timed.

I was honoured to present "If I must die" by Refaat Alareer. I collaborated with artist @jefkearns at the Poets for Palestine event at @gladdaybookshop. Alareer was a poet who was killed by an Israeli air strike, along with his family in 2023.
This was a fundraiser for Gaza Soup Kitchen. Thank you @roccodg1 and @farzanadoctor for the invitation and video.

If I must die
You must live
to tell my story
to sell my things
to sell a piece of cloth
and some strings
(make it white with a long tail)
so that a child, somewhere in Gaza
while looking Heaven in the eye
awaiting his Dad who left in a blaze -
and bid no one farewell
not even to his flesh
not even to himself -
sees my kite, my kite you made
flying up above
and thinks for a moment an angel is there
bringing back love
If I must die
let it bring hope
let it tell a tale

What to do when your hat is too boring? There are lots of ways to add your uniqueness to it. This is one of my past week commissioned works for @jefkearns . Jef is a Toronto artist, flutist with very distinct style. We have been working for years, and people recognize him on the street for unmistakably his own style. What else I can say...check him out , enjoy his flute vibes, and if need help with wardrobe, I'd love to chat with you!

Live Performance @ 3 PM by Guest Artist
Jazzy RnB Flautist Jef Kearns

GUEST ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:

Jef Kearns has been blowing the flute world wide open since he first grabbed the instrument at age 10. Thinking about the sax dominated solos in the R&B genre he said to himself, "It's my mission to make the flute the star." For over thirty years, he's poured every ounce of his being into creating a unique signature sound that is impossible to ignore. One look at his YouTube channel and you can see his music doesn't just play; it resonates.

His cover of Warren G's "Regulate" was featured in XXL Magazine's "20 Covers of Hip-Hop Songs Using Instruments." And his cover of Kanye West's "Slow Jamz" in Mashable's "14 Bizzarely Awesome Rap Cover Videos."

Jef's 2020 EP of original music, Jazzy AF, was touted as "a blend of sounds that creates a soundscape that listeners can easily get lost in. His follow-up single Hazy hit #77 in the Top 100 RnB and Soul charts on iTunes Norway in 2021. Jef's newest album Deep Cover 1970s was released in 2024.
